UCI police dispatcher put on paid leave for gay porn photography investigation

I’m not sure this incident is really any different than the unwanted publicity that happened to the pole-vaulter. The bottom line is that it is not illegal to look, take photos in public, or make lewd comments. To my knowledge, there is no CIF rule requiring high school athletes to wear Speedos or other minimalist uniforms. Those decisions are made by the coaches and parents. Swimmers and polo players can wear the long spandex shorts or swim trunks, and put on their Tshirts or sweatshirts when out of the pool, if this issue is of major concern to them.

Swimmers in the longer spandex suits are just as much a target of the photographers as water polo players, and baggy swim trunks are simply not an option in competitive water polo. It should not be incumbent on athletes to change their attire and wear garments unsuited to their sport in order to halt the behavior of the predatory photographers.

You are right that it should not be, but it is. When you can’t stop a legal activity, then your only choice is to make it unattractive.

Covering up while out of the pool is an option regardless of the swimsuit worn. A little modesty never hurt anyone.

Bay–You are right about the need to cover up, although not for modesty’s sake. These kids are not exhibitionists, but learn from an early age that a speedo bathing suit is the optimal uniform for their sport. However, my children’s high school and club teams will be wearing robes on deck for the foreseeable future, and do their pre-game stretching in the locker room or in a tent.

Washdad, my H works in county government in a management position (overseeing about 10 employees) and several years ago he fired two people (mostly for being unable to clock in on time, taking too much time off the job to attend to personal affairs and falling asleep at work!) Not laid off. Fired. It took time, a lot of time, but he did it. It had been a long time coming for those two employees. I guess their previous bosses just had not wanted to deal with the process. So it’s not impossible, just a pain in the rear.

He later got to interview and hire their replacements, and since then things have run very smoothly in his office.
