@ineedadegree I wasn’t able to view my financial aid package before I got admitted. The same day that I was admitted they sent an email after saying that the package was available to view.

It seemed like it was a good time. I personally did not partake in a lot of the things going on because I had a very specific reason for going. I got my financial aid taken care of and really get a good feeling about UCI. Still waiting to make a final decision based on UCLA but I am feeling like UCI is a good fit for me.

I also went to the UCI event today and was a bit overwhelmed at first. The campus seemed huge -my first time there- however, I took a walking campus tour, met some folks from the school of social ecology and even did some wandering around the social science plaza on my own. I ate some good food, picked up a t-shirt and left feeling like UCI is probably the right choice for me.

If you get lost, just remember the campus is a huge circle

Thanks for sharing the information, I was just too tired to go. When you were discussing your financial aid, did you happen to notice older transfer students in the fin aid area?

@SoCal79

What did you like best about the campus that made you feel it was a good fit for you? I’m also in the going into the School of Social Ecology, what was your impression of the people in that department?

@ UCdrone What constitutes older? haha but to answer your question at 28 I was probably the oldest person in line (besides parents)

@UCdrone - I liked how clean and accessible everything was. Aldrich park was nice, but I also liked the vast amount of trees sprinkled throughout the campus. There were lots of places for me to sit and take everything in along the way. It began to feel comfortable rather than huge and intimidating.
The vibe seemed a bit more my pace as well. I am 33 and had a hard time adjusting to life on the community college campus. So much immaturity and disrespect for the campus. Sure the students here were young, but they obviously worked hard to get there and didn’t seem to wild As they did when I went to the CSU’s open house.
The folks in our department seemed very nice. They offered up a congrats for my admission and spoke about the advising that would take place over summer.
I was hoping to see more transfer students my age. But at wasn’t a big deal.

@SoCal79
Do you know when the transfer academic advising days are? I can’t find them on online and I did not go to the open house event today.

@SoCal79

I like the way you said “our department.” It really hit me that I can go to UCI, if I want. I hear you about adjusting, I’m 36 and it was a little different having classes with younger people. I’ve heard there are quite a few older students at UCSD, so I haven’t decided where I want to SIR yet.

Some of the smartest most inspiring students I met at UCI were older transfer students…older as in married + kids older…it was kind of funny cause sometimes they just wanted to talk about schoolwork and I kept asking them questions about “real life”…like an annoying kid xD

@lbtocth

I want to know too Anyone knows about the academic advising?

@ altezza3363

Here you go:

[Transfer Academic Advising Session | Social Ecology Student Services](http://students.soceco.uci.edu/pages/transfer-academic-advising-session)

@uCDrone - that would be a tough decision. I didn’t apply to SD but I wish I had.

As far as academic advising, they didn’t have a specific date. I saw the same link you posted, but the year reads 2012 and everything is in regards to 2012. I’m hoping those dates are pretty similar for this summer just so I have an idea.

@SoCal79

I only stumbled on the link last night, I didn’t even notice the date! Thanks for catching that , let’s hope I’m more careful after I transfer, LOL.

Sorry about the misinformation @ altezza3363
