UCI vs. ASU Nursing

A 4.5 unweighted on a 5.0 scale is like a 3.5 unweighted on a typical 4.0 scale.

Most students’ college GPAs are lower than their high school GPAs. A 3.5 college GPA is considerably more difficult to attain than a 3.5 (equivalent to your 4.5) high school GPA. And, at ASU, you need to have every semester’s GPA be 3.5 or higher – a 3.7 first semester will not prevent you from being weeded out with a 3.3-3.4 second semester in the same number of credits.

@ucbalumnus oops sorry I meant 4.5 weighted lmao but thanks for ur info

@ucbalumnus I have a 4.0 unweighted haha oops typo

What did she decide? My son was admitted to ASU nursing class of 2025 with the Presidential merit scholarship, as well as Pitt, Creighton, U Portland, and a local state school which is lower on the list. If she is in ASU nursing, how does she like the downtown campus?

As noted upthread, ASU nursing has high weed-out GPA requirements (3.5 each of the first four semesters). If the others have direct admission with lower weed-out GPA requirements, or non-direct-admission but secondary admission to the nursing major is less difficult than earning a 3.5 GPA each of first four semesters, take that into consideration when choosing.
