Hi, I’ve been admitted to both UCSD and UCLA as a regents scholar, which in my financial circumstance offers a full ride. I live in San Diego and I’m a bit torn as to where to attend. My family would like me to be at UCSD so that I could help out every once in a while, but UCLA is more appealing to me. I would like to know the pros and cons of each school, the benefits of being a regents scholar from someone who is one, and ultimately, which is better for me? FYI, I’m a biophysics major (pre-med track). Also, is the honorarium on top of the financial package or included in it? If I apply to outside scholarships, would I be able to obtain refund checks? Thanks and I appreciate all inputs.
@dfury0618 You might want to make a separate thread for that–replies will undoubtedly be easily lost here as more people post stats/decision results
Congratulations though!! That’s awesome I don’t envy the tough choice you have to make, but!!! Congrats on getting in!!!

Personal Statement:10. This and my SAT made up for my GPA I think. And it is why I made this post guys, for all you people just like me who are going to read this next year and be scared of not getting in. Stop chancing yourselves and focus on your damn essays. I spent months perfecting every single line, and poured every piece of my soul on that paper. Do everything that you can to show what makes you who you are, and BE CREATIVE PLEASE. With 100,000 applicants, they don’t want to see you write about your extracurriculars only. Take risks and you will be rewarded.

Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
Intended Major : Biology (Pre-med)
State: CA
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Male
Income Bracket: Poor LMAO
Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.): nope
Reflection: I spent an entire year thinking I would get a rejection with my low GPA. I got B’s in the first semester of 10th grade, but after that something clicked and I worked my ASS off. I got a 4.5 next semester, and got two back to back 4.8’s in 11th grade. Know that whatever the situation is you find yourself in, you always have a chance to get accepted. Take advantage of your essays and standardized tests.
Strengths: definitely my SAT, essays and EC’s
Weaknesses: GPA LMAO
Schools were you accepted to? UCLA, UCSD, UCI, UCSB Regents,
Schools you were rejected from? None yet
Schools you are waiting for? I am still waiting for UC Berkeley, Cornell, Brown, and UPENN!!!
General Comments: Stop chancing yourselves and go write some bomb essays and get passionate about your EC’s. Love you all and good luck!
Does anyone know how to view Financial Aid for UCLA after you’re admitted?
