<p>Speaking about graduate schools and for Mechanical Engineering at UCLA, there are usually ~2 top students who get accepted to a PhD program at MIT or Stanford. A bunch of students will make it back to UCLA for the M.S program even with a GPA of 3.0-3.4 (the average GPA for a M.S applicant is around 3.55-3.6). It seems like the rest of the students are going into the industry.</p>
<p>At graduation, I would estimate the average GPA of students to be slightly above a 3.0.</p>
