UCLA Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

I have 2 different GPAs… 1 from UCs and 1 from CSUs.

My UC Davis GPA told me in my TAG but I didn’t see it from my other UCs.

My GPA for UC & CSU are different because I took courses that are not UC-transferrable but are CSU-transferrable.

Submitted my SIR to UCLA and when I go to view my financial aid provisional award letter it says it is unavailable. Also, when I try to access my UCLA email through the webmail link it takes me to a screen and just says “invalid email.”

Is anyone else having these problems? It’s kinda stressing me out :frowning:

@uct2020 hi! i’m on the same boat as you! my financial aid provisional award letter is unavailable as well. i think they’ll release it soon (?) hopefully. but i dont think theres anything to stress about.

@hismoonlight Yeah I think you’re right. Thanks!

@hismoonlight @uct2020

Hello to the both of you! I am in the same situation as well. I called the Financial Aid Office today and spoke to a Financial Aid advisor, who brought to my attention that my social security number did not match my FAFSA application (I messed up on my social security number on the UC application). As a result of my incorrect social security number on their record, they did not have access to my FAFSA and therefore could not produce a Provisional Award letter.

Here is a list of reasons, per myUCLA, for why your award letters may not be posted:

  • Your admission status has not been finalized.
  • You may have saved your application on the processor’s site without submitting it. If you were not presented with a confirmation page at the time you completed your application, it may have been saved and not submitted for processing. Please log back in to the application site and submit it.
  • The Social Security Number on your FAFSA does not match the SSN on your school record or you did not supply a Social Security Number on your admission application. Please check you FAFSA application to verify that your SSN is correct and make changes, if necessary. If the SSN on the FAFSA is correct, please contact Financial Aid and Scholarships.
  • There was no Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) calculated at the time you submitted your application. We cannot estimate your eligibility for aid, if the processor did not calculate your EFC. Please go back to your application and submit missing information.
  • Financial Aid and Scholarships needs additional information from you (income and asset verification or verification of legal guardianship) before we can determine your eligibility. You will be notified, if additional information is necessary.

I recommend going through these reasons, and of course, calling the Financial Aid office! The advisor told me it would take 3-5 business days for them to post the letter once my social security number was updated.

Hope this helped :slight_smile:

Hi @Ecogirl77 Do you know if the provisional award final or will there be additional scholarships/aid awarded?

@lovecpa The provisional award is an estimate and can change at any time due to a number of factors.

It can be changed due to your lack of requested documents which support your eligibility for that grant. Then you just go talk to the FA office even after the quarter starts.

Or there is a new released grant that you believe that you are eligible to receive it but you do not see new offer, you can contact the FA office too.

Is UCLA likely to decide to accept pass / no pass for major preparatory classes? It looks like I will be getting a C in one of mine…

Hi guys, can anyone please answer my question? I’m an English major and recently got accepted by UCLA, but unfortunately I had to drop a class. I already updated the Admissions team. That course was on ASSIST, but is it mandatory that we had to finish all those courses on ASSIST before transferring? I went on ASSIST and checked the courses that’d be equivalent from my CC, and it said that it’s recommended that I should take as many as possible. I finished all the required English classes, but I recently dropped a major prep. I’d still be transferring with 60+ units and an overall high GPA. Do you guys think I’ll be rescinded?

I think it depends on your major and possibly other factors. This is really a question to ask Admissions. Or maybe the UCLA Transfer facebook group might have an idea? But many rules are changing/being bent because of the pandemic, so admissions would probably be your best bet.

Did any other engineering majors get accepted into the CEED program? My boyfriend was and I’m super proud!

Accepted!

Has anyone turned in an update form and heard back from UCLA yet?

Hi guys. On the UCLA provisions contract, I don’t see any requirements that I need to be at junior standing (90 quarter units) by the end of june. I only see the 7 course pattern requirement. I might not pass a physics class (not a major prereq or 7 course pattern class) this semester (P/NP) which as a result will drop me under the 60 semester unit requirement. However, I have signed up for a geology class this summer to meet the requirement before the school year starts. Do you guys think theyll rescind my admission considering the current coronavirus pandemic. I emailed them and they said they aren’t allow to advise what i do or not do.

Anyone know when UCLA notifies you if you got the regents scholarship…? I submitted my app a few days ago

@hikashi That sounds like a situation in which they would rescind your offer. The 60 unit requirement is typically something that must be done at the end of spring. Units in summer cannot be counted towards your 60 unit count. They’re typically classes needed to fulfill IGETC. I would contact admissions directly.

Hi guys, anyone receive the email about the TAP scholarship

Hey I received it. Is it sent to every admitted applicant who is TAP certified?

Also, does anyone know when decisions from the alumni association come out?

Hi I have a question.

I got admitted for Statistics. How bad is it to drop a class that is not needed for a prerequisite nor for general ed? This class is physics I. I aready have 60 transfer semester units and will not need it for Statistics major. I originally took it because I thought I was going to CSUN but I got admitted to UCLA.

Is it better to set the grade to pass/no pass? I might do that instead because I’m scared of getting rescinded. Should I ask UCLA about dropping it?
I did ask about pass/no passing the Physics class but I didn’t mention I am considering to drop it.

The reason why I am thinking of dropping it is because Data Theory has a GPA requirement and I might want to switch majors to there. The Data Theory major has similar prerequisites to Statistics major. Both majors don’t need Physics.

thank you.
