When will Uc Irvine start rolling out decisions?

Hey! I applied at Tijuana Tech…

I got in but where does the negative image of UCR come from?

I personally am happy to attend UCR and the school one decides to attend should be about fit and not prestige.

Hell last year I got into UCSB and attended but the school was not for me.

^UCR is notorious for accepting almost anybody and is widely considered a low-tier UC because of it. Not to mention, most people find campuses like UCSC/SB/SD much more aesthetically pleasing than UCR. I will say, UCR has come around in the past few years and I think will continue to do so, but until it continues to make further of advancements people will continue to disregard UCR as an academic preference.

Disclaimer: I am in no way trying to bash on UCR, I applied there myself as a backup. I’m just reporting the majority of opinions I have heard/read here on CC. :)

The campus on UCR is REALLY small. I go there right now and you can literally probably walk all around in 30 minutes or so. The buildings are pretty modern compared to some old UC campuses. I’d say you either have to get a bike or drive from wherever you are living (unless you live at an overpriced student apartment). The weather here is very dry and the air/ water quality is very, very bad. Buy an air purifier or filter because the water is known to contain a lot of chemicals (comes out cloudy) and the air is quite dusty. I’d say the classes are really easy though, but I am used to taking 3 AP’s a semester during HS without a problem and it also depends on your major. The nice thing is they have classes at the movie theater in the University plaza so it’s quite comfy when you have morning classes (literally fall asleep) lol. What I don’t like about UCR is that it feels so much like a high school campus and not a real college campus, since it’s so tiny and there’s really no amazing architecture like Berkeley. Also, classes are pretty limited here and you might get a really crap enrollment date, unless you are in the honors program or doing sports. A lot of people don’t care enough to register for classes during their enrollment though… There are also no real frat houses and everyone goes home on the weekends if they live closeby so it’s super deserted on weekends. The neighborhood isn’t all too safe either… we get a lot of emails about robberies so pick somewhere with a gate. The temp here in the summer is like 100+ and below 30 during the winter time. I am currently trying to transfer out, but you can ask me any questions about the school. I can tell you almost anything haha from good to bad experiences and the general area.

I think most people would not come here because of the surroundings… it being in the middle of no where really sucks as there’s like no food and you HAVE to drive or else you will literally have nothing to eat or no way of getting around unless you live close by to markets

Also, they do accept everyone witha 3.2 - 3.3 gpa or higher in like any major. It’s one of the easiest schools to get into, so I guess some people find it a low-tier UC because there’s really no competition getting in and there is no competition while attending either

^^
Wow good thing I won’t be living on campus.

Are you a business major?

if so

Do the big 4 accounting firms recruit from UCR?

What surprising is UCR ranking is up there, they even have a professor who has a Nobel Laureate. But compare to the rest of the UC’s; UCR is in the back of the bus.

My gpa is above 3.3 and my app still under review… Everything is done. Explain

@LA no, unfortunately I heard they don’t.

@Fer~ We just didn’t make the cut, that’s all! Who knows, maybe we’ll hear tomorrow. :P

i thought add apps were released by last name first…

@la no i’m not a business major so I can’t help you there =( but a lot of my friends are since business is the most popular major here. I heard it’s not easy to get classes but since you are coming in as a junior it might be easier

@Ferrari4XD - I don’t think you will be rejected! They do come out randomly =/ I remember in HS i wasn’t even the first batch either but the acceptance came down the line.

And yeah, please dont live on campus I’ve heard horrible things… like mold and the A/C not working

I’m still under review but I’m not too worried.
Tagged with a 3.03 GPA

XD Barely made it lol

@la157917

I believe they do or at least a couple do.
I’m going to join the Accounting Society there and network like crazy to get an internship.
Hopefully with Deloitte in OC :D

@^ lol even ur gpa drop below 3.0 u can still make it. just maintain gpa for ur specific major.

@rschwartz

Good for you! I’m sure you will get in.

@rschwartz

I am also planning to join the accounting society and I see that the society regularly has speakers from big 4 speaking at the meetings

big 4 heavily recruit at usc.

at ucr, once in a while, rarely, probably 1 or 2 persons for the whole school.

Also, any opinions on which of the on-campus apartments would be the best?
