Has anyone heard about someone who was accepted before with major but rejected later???
Because someone reported on this thread that they physically went to the UCR admissions office and they said that if u saw an acceptance with or without major u are in
@MAJOR2082 really? But UCR said in tweet that āstudent should disregard any pervious decision or admission decision they may seen when they log in to myUCR admission portalā did that person say that before or after UCR fixed the portal?
@orchidlili Honestly, Iād disregard it. Thereās no point trying to make a huge mess over it when theyāve already said to disregard it themselves. Just wait until all acceptances/rejections are out and if you feel they made a āwrong decisionā then appeal.
Last years acceptance rate was 66.2% with 42,632 applicants and with 28,240 admits. 9% of the applicants had GPA lower than a 3.00 which was an automatic rejection, unless athlete or extreme circumstances.
So I called the admissions office today and asked them about some details. The woman told me that if you application is āunder reviewā you do not meet the minimum GPA requirements and they are doing a second review of your application. If you application is āconsidered for admissionā it means you meet the GPA requirements and they are making final decisions on your admission. Also she said that admissions are not based on major or last name and they are released randomly in batches by whichever decisions admissions counselors made first.
@smcollege123 Bless your soul for this information. And wait, āmaking final decisions on your admissionā? Arenāt all decisions finished and just being released in batches?
@ImJustaPerson Iām assuming that decisions are made but there is some speculation that there are supposed to be more admissions this year than any year and also I have a few friends under the 3.0 mark who have been either admitted or wait listed so Iām not sure if that rule applies this year or if final decisions for those students are being made.
@smcollege123 Ah, okay. But according to their statistics, only 100 people under a 3.0 GPA got in? Also, how do we know that this year is suppose to have much more admissions than any other year, (speculated)?
@ImJustaPerson People at my school claimed it was on the news that they were supposed to admit more people in general to the UC system this year. Also could you link me to those stats of GPAs?
Ah, yes I heard that. They are only adding (I think) 650 more Cali students to each campus. Lately, UC regents are being forced to cap OOS students to increase Cali student enrollment.
@smcollege123 I thought UCR didnāt do holistic admissions? On their website, it says they calculate a score but is it like the CSU eligibility index where they just use your GPA/SAT/ACT? My friend applied with below a 3.0, 2.9 weighted and her portal status says sheās being āconsidered for admissionā but last week she said it showed her accepted with her first choice major⦠hmmmā¦
