UCSB Acceptance

they sent rejection too?

I’m still pending too! but I going in to Davis on the 20th and I think I’m going there anyway haha so I don’t care too much… but it is getting a little ridiculous

still pending :(

I’m still pending here too…
3.87 GPA
Sociology Major
No Tag

Samster; don’t trip! I had a 3.6, no tag, sociology major with only 2 prereqs done!

Darn,last week to go I am still pending!!!why!!!Oh well guys, don’t give up hope just yet.Anything could happen…Good luck to all! :)

Accepted!

Pre-Biopsych
Out-of-state transfer

I have to admit to being baffled - I have very few major pre-reqs for UCSB. This makes me super paranoid. Let’s say the admissions counselors “made a mistake” - is there any way for them to renege on their offer of admission? …I sort of hate to bring this up, “accepted” is supposed to be “happily ever after”, but I can’t stop thinking about it! Anyone have any thoughts?

Part of the reason I’m asking is because I was denied UCR UCSC and UCD… why would UCSB accept me? Still waiting to hear back from UCM, UCSD, and UCB.

@molecule1985

What was your gpa?

@molecule1985

I had heard that the UC’s were going to accept more out of state students due to their budget cuts–OOS students pay higher tuition than CA residents? Were you a CA resident attending an OOS 4 year OR OOS community college?

@molecule1985: UCSB accepts you into any major you ask for without prereqs finished as long as it’s not engineering or math-econ or bio-sci (which do require prereqs complete).

Don’t go crazy if you have yet to be admitted because they ARE sending out some rejections and they’re not solely waiting til the last minute. And your rejection will give you a brief explanation why Ex. not being competitive enough or for me…

I was rejected last week for having too many transferable credits (92 semester when the cap is 90) in which 70 were from a CCC and 22 were from a 4-year.

I actually have a question for everyone, whether you’ve been admitted or not. What were you extra cirriculars like? Or I guess a better question is… when you filled out your applications did max out your honors, activities, leadership roles, etc? I want to see if there is a trend with admitted and denied students.

i had like no ec. the only ones i listed were the ones i did in high school. i got admitted like two weeks ago.

I’m going to be honest… I’ve heard (on numerous occasions) that all of the UC’s (except LA and B) don’t even look at extracurricular or your personal statement when your a CC transfer student. I spoke with someone about applying to UCSB when I first started at CC and they said just make sure you get good grades because that’s all they look at, and on RARE occasions they need to clarify so they quickly glance at your Personal Statement. and if you have TAG, then I doubt they even second guess themselves if your over a 3.2 and have IGETC complete.

ughh. this is killer… I have excellent ECs and then a 3.0 gpa… :l so I kinda feel screwed now.

@ddssfam - My gpa from my OOS college was 3.65, my GPA from all subsequent classes (UC Berkeley, UC Berkeley Extension, and a California CC) is 4.0. Also, I am Out of State for admittance purposes (no TAG/IGETC for me…) but I’m an in-state resident for tuition purposes.

@walleats - that’s helpful to know. I’m mostly concerned that they miscounted my credits from my OOS college. That school was on a quarter system, one class was 1 - 3 credits, and the three counselors I talked with each gave me a different “transferable credit” count: between 33 - 75 transfer credits. It was very confusing.

Re: ECs - I listed as many leadership things as I could, and I tried to list one thing under each “subject”, but my app wasn’t “maxed out” by any means…

Ok…so I am still pending at UCSB…anyone else with me? This is getting out right ridiculous! ahhh I cant wait any longer. Has anyone talked to admissions about when the rest will be released?

Pending still.

No rush though, it’s not like knowing whether I’ve been accepted or rejected a few days early is going to change anything.

im still pending…im getting excited knowing its this week sometime that we’ll get answers!
