UCSB Appeal 2024

just checked the status. no email. in state bay area

Wow, what a grand finale my D got accepted to her dream school!!!

On appeal of rejection - this is a miracle, way to fight for your dreams to the end. I’m in disbelief.
It was the only school she got denied from - and what a sweet happy ending of this saga!
I’m UCSB mom again!

My son originally rejected but accepted yesterday from appeal (undeclared). In-state, 4.0 UC weighted, 1290 SAT, all-around kid (varsity sports, programming, has a few albums/EPs/singles on AppleMusic/Spotify etc). He expressed interest in the music majors which fit in with his previous “verifiable” experience. Also, his sister was in hospital fall of last year which interfered with applications/testing/GPA, poor guy. Honestly, we were told by his counselor it was too impossible to bother with applying to UCSB in the first place. Never listen to negative people.

i was admitted off the appeal for pre-political science today!
stats:
3.7 gpa uw
31 act
strong writing + lots of jobs and internships
i didnt get an email, but it was available on the portal. super excited!! good luck to everyone :slight_smile:

admitted off the appeal today!!! this is crazy, im so proud of all us. dream school '24 <3

My son just got in last night (May 18) from his appeal. Good luck to everyone and thank you all for your valuable input.

I got in from appeal yesterday (originally rejected). I have a 3.45 UW, 3.8 W, and 3.89 UC gpa with a 30 on the act and strong extracurricular and essays. Go gauchos!! Good luck to all of you

@norcalparent
Same situation here, except my daughter is really excited about UC Davis now, and I don’t know what we would do if she gets in to UCSB on appeal. Her gpa is high, but I think her test score is too low. We are still waiting to hear. We are from SouthernCal so it’s the opposite with location for us. We love UC Davis, our only issue is that it’s about 6 hours away, so she would need to fly if she wants to come home. Santa Barbara is under 2 hours away, so we could easily drive back and forth in the same day if needed.

@Socialbird
That’s great! My daughter is the opposite, she has over 4 gpa, but low test score. We’re still waiting to hear. Good luck everyone.

Does anyone know when the next wave of appeals are coming out, it seems like only those who were accepted heard back this week.

@nkumar1 The office of admissions says they are trying to review all appeals by June 1st.

My daughter got in from her appeal. She is beyond excited as UCSB was her dream school. Appeals do work…goodluck to everyone.

When let in off an appeal from a rejection, are you given a certain amount of time to accept? And how are you notified? Email? Portal update?

My son was given 6 or 7 days to accept (he took about an hour). He initially found out by checking the portal, and then got an email the next day. Good luck!

What’s the deadline to accept the appeal? Is it before June 1?

Has anyone heard a negative response to their appeal yet? So far I’ve only heard people saying they have been accepted off appeal.

Is there going to be one more wave of appeal acceptances this week?

Also contacted UCSB Office if Admissions. Was informed “ All appeals submitted by freshman applicants are currently under review. Our goal is to complete the reviews and notify students prior to June 1, 2020. ”

Since they say “prior to June 1” and since June 1 is Monday, do you think that really means notifications will be made by end of day Friday, May 29, at the latest??? ?

I just got in!! after appealing from a rejection

Congrats! When did they send the notice??
