Congratulations to all the American and International applicants accepted :)

@literally , you should have received an email today that should have formally invited you to the official UCSD Facebook page for admitted students.

@SmoothAl haha yes i did! thank you :)

Are we allowed to change our major from Undeclared to a non-impacted major on the myTritonLink before our freshman year?

Accepted! I actually got the call a few weeks ago. 4.4 GPA and 1890 SAT. Overall I’ve seen from my experience of getting into UCSD, UCD, UCI, and UCSC that they are generally more concerned with GPA than SAT scores in the UC system. I know many kids from my school that got rejected despite very high SAT scores (one kid with a 2250!).

My D got admitted into Undeclared major, Revelle college. Wants to get into Computer Sciecne. What are the Pre-requesites to transfer to Computer Science?
I looked at the UCSD website. Is this the list of pre-req one needs to complete to get into CS <a href=“Home | Computer Science”>Home | Computer Science;

Seems like everything under the sun :-)

On the other hand, the FAQ on this link <a href=“Home | Computer Science”>Home | Computer Science; points to the following courses
- Physics 2A - “Mechanics”
- Physics 2B - “Electricity and Magnetism”
3, Math 20D - CSE 3, CSE 5A, or CSE 8A.

Help please

@wormandcandy If your daughter is anything like you, I hope she learns to let loose at college and learn to be a little less pretentious. As you can see by the other responses posted before this one, your attitude on this thread is not welcome.

Here is the quote: “Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: All I see around this thread is SAT this SAT that blah blah. I understand the importance of the SAT but when it comes to making a decision, which factor weighs more? spending hours bettering your community or scoring well on a 3 hour test.”

This individual reports SAT score of 1350; ACT 21.

It is the chiding of the many hundreds of other candidates who were rejected that prompted the response of arrogance. Do you think youngsters who scored 1950 + on SAT and 30+ on ACT who were rejected by UCSD should be ridiculed because they took more seriously one part - but important part - of the evaluation process?

Decision: Accepted at Revelle :)

Strengths: Essays were the best I ever written, my ECs were right on the money, and my UC GPA is warm and cuddly
Weaknesses: Dat SAT and ACT Score
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I think because overall it was a very human application that showed that I had to work hard to where I wanted to go.

Extra: Accepted at UCI and UC Davis, Waitlisted by University of Chicago and UCLA

Accepted Into Warren for Environmental Engineering but got waitlisted to UC Davis… Not sure how that worked but i cant complain much! Congrats to everybody else who was accepted!

Looks like UCSD is my top choice for enrollment considering I received Regents. Was really hoping for Jacob’s Scholar, but I can make it work with a summer job. Warren for Computer Engineering.
Waitlisted at UCLA, Harvey Mudd

I think in UCSD Test score is more important but Cal Poly SLO, they might think GPA is more important.
I got accepted by Cal Poly so I don’t care I had rejected by UCSD. even I might accepted UCSC, I would choose my dream Univ, Cal Poly SLo.

@taehunchoi – given that your parents have indicated they can’t afford Cal Poly SLO, are you considering the in state school you were accepted to??

Decision: Accepted to Sixth

Objective:
SAT I (breakdown): 760 CR 770 M 760 W (2290)

Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): National Merit Finalist

Subjective:
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Some Intro to CS courses online, a week long MSIS summer camp at a local college, student government (Treasurer) (Student government dissolved the next year. Not enough students interested to create one.); School has no ECs now.
Intended Major: Undecided; chose computer science but it was impacted.
State (if domestic applicant):OK
School Type: Private Christian (Non-denominational)
Ethnicity: European
Gender: Male
Income Bracket: 300k+

Strengths: Scores
Weaknesses: Not such a great essay writer. Basically no ECs. I should have pursued ECs elsewhere, but I was a stupid spoiled HS student. So many regrets.
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Scores, and they would get a lot of money since I’m OOS.

Extra: Accepted Oklahoma University; Waitlist at UMich; Denied from everywhere else.

Edit: I remembered some ECs I put on my application. Still doesn’t change it much.

I don’t think about in state Univ…that univ is not competitive and any body can be accepted… so I don’t have any interest.

@SD2018DAD

The first link (the PreReqs) is NOT what you’re looking for. This page shows what classes you need to have taken before taking another class. An example of a PreReq: You need to have completed Calc 1 before Calc 2.

I’m kind of confused where you’re looking at in the second link, but it looks like you’re looking under the transfer section. Transfer would be students coming from another school (usually a CC) into the Computer Science Major, this is a list of classes they should take before they come to UCSD. This would give a better idea of the classes she’ll have to take.

The best way to go about it is try to follow the course planner for computer science. Talking to an academic advisor would be the best idea, and they would be able to completely answer your questions.

Got in with Regents Scholarship! :D

I’m sorry…this probably has already been asked and answered…but does anyone know how the housing application works?
