UCSD Class of 2020 Discussion

Guys there is no need to worry. You will know by the end of the month. I’m sure everyone here has been accepted to some great colleges. Believe in yourselves guys! You got this

@gonewiththeair I mean, on their website it says decisions will be available by March 30th. They started giving decisions starting February 28th or something, and every week after that there’s been people who have getting accepted (whereas by phone call or whatever). I believe they will release decisions March 18th, March 25th, and March 30th.

I’m not entirely sure, but if they’re planning on doing one batch per week, it makes sense?

@jackisawesome do you happen to have screenshots of your friends rejections?

@terrible hm, that’s an interesting theory. unfortunately, we don’t know yet whether or not they plan to release one batch per week. they may plan to release more. we will just have to wait and see!

@gonewiththeair Have you gotten a decision back yet from UCSD?

@terrible unfortunately, I haven’t. :frowning: Have you?

@gonewiththeair Yes! I heard back today. I’m OOS as well so it’s pretty exciting!
Have you applied to other schools / heard back from them?
I’m sure you’re bright and amazing and will get in! Don’t worry… I’ve been pretty stressed too ;’(

So if we have a March 30 we are rejected ?

@Til3005 We don’t know if the March 30 message is an indicator for rejection, admission, or wait list.

@Til3005 nope- it just means we have to wait a bit longer for our decision

@terrible Congratulations! That’s awesome! I’ve been accepted to UC Davis (my third choice, after UCSD and George Washington), Cal Poly SLO, and Sac State. Thank you very much xx and now you have a great school you can go to

@gonewiththeair Well that’s good! I applied to GW as well-- not sure if I’ll get in because the college admissions game is sketchy… And yeah, I’m pretty happy because I got into my two backup schools and this was the first college I got into that is ranked HIGHLY in my major (though does ranking even matter at this point lol?) and it’s pretty great :~)
I’m sure you have the stats, just be patient and you can do it! College admissions tests us far too much… It’s a pain.

Can someone copy & paste the March 30th letter thingie or whatever? I don’t fully understand :">

Thank you for applying to UC San Diego for Fall Quarter 2016. Freshman application decisions will be posted by March 30. Please check back for your application decision status.

(This is the e-mail I received. They subtly hinted that I got accepted while I was freaking out and trying to make a UCSD account and then my parents came up to me, did you ever read the email? They said Triton Day… and I was like =)) I’m a serious fool… But anyways, what do the rejection emails look like then?)

(P.S. Not to mention the random dancing people GIF that was clearly in sight, as well as the video that shouted WELCOME TO UCSD-- somehow I missed these signs…)

UC San Diego application decisions are posted on MyApplication. Please take a moment to check your status. Find login instructions below.

@waitingforresults my friend got accepted and texted me around 3:24pm yesterday and I checked shortly after

@Til3005 That’s a standard e-mail! You guys have nothing to worry about that then. UCSD website says college decisions will be posted by March 30th. I’m sure nearly everyone is getting this because so many people have been complaining to UCSD in fear of getting rejected.

I live in Washington, so 3:24pm PST time (3/11/16)

Got my admission decision today! Hope to see some of you all there!

Here’s what doesn’t add up in this discussion. People are saying that according to the amount of CC people reporting their UCSD acceptances, around 30-40% of acceptances of UCSD were already released, thus meaning that the first wave was a majority of acceptances. How can you get this 30-40% statistic from a forum website? I’m sure a good amount of people were accepted from the first wave, but the people who got rejected aren’t just going to go on a forum and say “hey guys, I got rejected!!” This could probably explain why we aren’t hearing that many rejections and hearing a lot more acceptances.

@hotwater98 In my opinion people take CC way too seriously in terms of stats. CC is not a good predictor of college acceptance or stuff like that. I got accepted to UCSD whereas when I didn’t have an account on here, people with the same stats as me had chance me threads and CCers were saying they wouldn’t get in. Makes no sense because I got in. I believe it’ll be one batch per week till March 30th deadline. So possibly starting Feb 28th, it’s been the 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th, 30th/31st? I assume 20% of acceptances will be received during each batch. But this is only an estimation. I know UCSD has estimated to have an acceptance rate of 33%> this year so quite a lot of rejections have happened yesterday. But why would anyone post about a rejection anyhow?
