UCSD decisions are out Fall 2009

decaPPLdance, how close to an A are you? I’d talk to your professor about your situation and ask what you can do to raise your grade. Do your best on all that you can and try hard to get some extra credit. Good luck!

This is ridiculous, they had 2 months. Why don’t they at least send out the rejections first because they obviously don’t need to know their Financial Aid info and it’s fast to just click and send a stupid letter. I’m so frustrated!

Frustrated to me is an understatement…like whats wrong with us?

dilemma: i got accepted to ucsd and visited the school last saturday… i hated it :[
what to do

its messed up that their rep said “all apps have been reviewed” and they still are holding back the results. They really need to take our situations into consideration. Im tired of not knowing where to begin looking for housing, figuring out roommate situations, jobs… everything. I realize that we are not the “customers” in this equation so i don’t mean to sound *****y…

as a sidenote, my Aunt works for U of Mich and said that sometimes, schools like UCSD that are seen as “back ups” to places like UCLA or CAL- hold off sending reject/admit to prospective students with lower gpas (3.3-below) because they sometimes let a few in to make up for the already accepted people that have declined due to admissions elsewhere.

dorkO just tell them that you’d like to give your admittance to me. lol

Hey you guys, this is my 1st time posting, but I’m in the same boat as you waiting on UCSD to decide my fate.

Fortunately I got into UCI, anyways, today I was talking to a UCI counselor and lamenting how lame I think it is that UCSD is stretching this out to the bitter end. He said UCI does it the same way! I was just lucky I got my news early!

He explained that all the applications are divided up amongst the counselors and processed from the top of the pile to the bottom. That we haven’t heard yet just indicates we’re at the bottom of the pile - it doesn’t mean they hate us (I was convinced they did!) According to the UCI counselor we all still have as much chance as anyone at getting in - and you have TAG or completed the IGETC (I did) then that really improves our chances.

As for the guy with the Biology grade issue - I have an answer for that too! I was panicking because I was enrolled in a class this spring (at CC) which I put on my supplemental application, but I have since dropped it. When I got the acceptance at UCI they said that same thing - must complete all classes enrolled in or planned exactly as you listed them on your app. The UCI counselor was so mellow about it! He was like “No problem! As long as you call or email your (specific) admissions counselor that’s fine!” So my advice to you is, call the admissions department, I bet they will work something out with you.

Lastly to the girl who got accepted at UCSD, but didn’t like the campus - Do you think it could grow on you? Are you in a position to wait another quarter and apply somewhere else? What would be your 2nd choice? Whatever your other choices are, why don’t you go there and just walk around and see how you like those campuses - maybe UCSD isn’t so bad after all…

hoping 4 the best,
do you really think taht 2 days before the deadline, they are still reviewing the applications?? if so then they must have been procrastinating!! haha. its just frustrating that all my friends (some with same gpa 3.7, some lower)got in almost a month ago and im stuck here checking their damn site everyday. i bet if they had some ads on there they could have made a lot of money. anyway i do hope for the best.

^
They aren’t. He’s just saying that the decisions are being released in random order. Someone on here got rejected in March. They’re just taking their time not to make an error that will be all over the news again…;D

^^
Word.

Everytime I see yer name I always think of anime.

^
…

It’s my Japanese name.

hoping4thebest… my only other option is uci which i think isn’t thaatt much better

I never said it was a bad thing. I’m just saying anime pops into my head.

Yah, I guess I don’t completely believe they’re still “processing” apps either - but like my name says, I’m hoping for the best. I wanted my name to be “Hoping for the best, but expecting the worst” because that’s how I feel! But I didn’t have enough space…

DorkO - I feel your pain… UCSD & UCI weren’t even my 1st choices - believe or not, I wanted to go to SDSU! They offer more evening classes (good for me cause I work), their tuition is lower, and their standards are lower. You can imagine how shocked I was that they rejected me, but UCI accepted me - ***?! I am actually just grateful anyone accepted me - I am eager to get this school crap over with and get on with my life!

Anyways - have you checked out the UCI campus? I haven’t yet, but I’m going up there for an orientation/tour thing on Friday - I can let you know what I think about it, if you want.

^
SDSU, pshh. LOL. I swear, only applicants from San Diego are accepted. ;D Just kidding, I hope. Good luck!

Yah, those elitist bastards!

Actually, that’s exactly why SDSU said they rejected me and “unusually high number of applicants” and I was outside their district, or whatever (I live in north SD County) . I was mad though because I had talked to their admissions office multiple times and they made it sound like I was in for sure - then, rejection! I was crushed - they refused to take appeals this year too because of the budget cuts and our state is flippin’ bankrupt and can’t kick down extra money to the schools.

Now I might have to commute to Irvine, but will just be glad to do the damn thing and get school over with.

Good luck to you too though…

^ yeah, SDSUs district is below the 56. they have a higher acceptance rate for people below and they figure people north of it will go to San Marcos

hoping4thebest, why not do a winter transfer?

I’m considering attempting that if I don’t get in…
If not I’ll just go to UCSB instead…

But as I’ve said many times before…UCSD’s my dream school so I really hope I get in. =/

dont give up tekierz…

ucsd is my dream school too…

winter admit here i come!!

the only problem with winter admission is I don’t I can take another year at home without going insane. Also I realllly don’t want to go through this waiting process for the third time in two years… if for some horrible, insane, out of my control reason I don’t get into UCSD. I’ll most likely just send my SIR into UCSB.
