yeah the waiting game continues…

i need to start thinking about my appeal

iamlegendary- that is very crappy to hear. Good luck getting into UCSD.

i know im possibly staring at rejection from all four…is that even possible??

legendary, it is totally possible because i’m staring down the same tunnel.

rejected by UCLA and UCI
pending on UCSD and UCSB

shines a beam of light at the end of the tunnel

haha i just read both my essays and boy were they good how could they deny me… here it is tell me what you guys think…

During the Lincoln-Douglas debate in the fall of 1858, a political genius and the greatest President, Abraham Lincoln said, “Public sentiment is everything. With public sentiment, nothing can fail; without it nothing can succeed.” President Lincoln knew the importance of connecting with everyday people and he emphasized continuously it was the people who ran the government not the government running the people. He knew the importance of everyday people participating in our democracy to making our nation a better nation. Through example, I exemplified participation in our democracy, and will continue because I intend to major in Political Science: American Politics.
My passion for American politics never wavered. My first step in being politically involved was volunteering for the Democratic Party. I remember feeling how great it felt to walk through precincts and talking to everyday Americans. A group of volunteers and I would knock door to door trying to find votes for our endorsed candidate. Many people may not find it amusing to phone bank or to walk precincts on a Saturday afternoon but I felt as if I was making a positive difference for my country.
The most profound moment during my involvement for the Democratic Party was when I knocked on an elderly woman’s door to greet her. She had opened the door to greet me and I noticed how red her eyes were from crying. I initially tried avoiding asking her what was wrong, so I continued asking for her vote for President-elect Obama. She looked at me with a sense of hope after I said Obama’s name and expressed how much she loved Obama. As our conversation progressed she had told me why she was crying. She told me how bad in debt she was and the credit card companies turned their back on her. They had raised her interest rates up to 29% of a high debt and told her they wouldn’t lower the interest rate. She couldn’t even pay her mortgage because of her credit card debt and wanted to give up and file for bankruptcy. I felt horrible for her and could only imagine how many millions of other Americans are in the same situation. I told her about President-elect Obama’s plan about fixing predatory credit card companies, but she knew the government couldn’t solve her problems. She also found a new sense of hope for a better day after I discussed his plans and alternative plans she could do for now. I may have not gained much career experience from talking to everyday Americans but I felt the pain and compassion of the American people. I want to make a difference in the elderly woman’s life and every other life that is suffering. Feeling their pain has only fueled my passion in American politics to make a difference.
President Lincoln felt the pain of the soldier who fell in battle in the Civil War or the African-American slave who was entrenched in slavery and had no escape or the woman who was treated not as an equal to men. He understood the importance of being involved in American politics to making a difference in everyday people’s lives. I too, feel the same pain as President Lincoln but the only difference between him and I is I have yet to make an impact.

is there a way to see which colleges you put in order on your application? i got warren…? iono.

wow treynight sucks for us…we should start a club!!

very nice joey…maybe because youre democrat?? lol…jk idk

I thought UCSD doesn’t read personal statement…

haha actually i switched parties since i wrote that… to be honest Obama has been way more liberal than I thought, but thats another discussion

@legendary

i had an advisor tell me that it was because i didn’t do enough major requirements so far. i only went off of what santa barbara’s site says saying that if we don’t really have an idea of what we want to do yet, then complete the general education requirements. so now its sucks because its coming back to get me that i followed their website!

joeyd72^^^ Maybe your admissions counselors are Republicans??? And you insulted them because you were trying to raise money for the Democrats…

Who knows…good write up though

Nevermind! Someone beat me to it.

trey…same for me but in my situation i was just taking classes and i picked my major because it was the most prereqs ive done…lol…and it wasnt even that much…

karma is a bit.ch!!

haha why did you switch joey??

I just saw my official UCSD acceptance for the first time today!! :D

Yeah Legendary, It is going to be a long f**king weekend. Man, this hurts.
Okay, let’s start those bloody appeals. :)

saba, congratulations!

did you check the housing application change before the acceptance?

haha hey gatita where have you been…any news on the waitlist scenario??

whats your appeal about??

haha honestly, this is gonna sound harsh but I think people should dig themselves outta holes or with their communities help rather than the government, the government cant solve our problems we must handle for ourselves. People are in desperate times right now and want government help, I think its the wrong path to take because they will always have some kinda hand in your’s and mine’s pockets. Plus lets not even get to the deficit, it makes me go bananas and Obama is throwing billions everywhere like its chump change.

thanks!! yeah, i did check the housing message, it was updated

I hate the UCs. I got rejected from UCLA, UCB, UCI, and most likely UCSD. ■■■
