UCSD FALL 2016 TRANSFER THREAD

1,000th post!

@wecandothis Withdrawals don’t have an effect on the admissions decision unless that course is a prereq, needed to complete IGETC, or puts you under 60 units.

I’m just trying to find out where to update, or who to e-mail.

@1NMRes

Honestly, there’s not really much we can do at this point except patiently wait. With your 4.0, I’m confident you’ll get into your state school.

So for now, just focus on your classes and try to keep your mind off of admissions! We’ve gone through years of college already; two more weeks won’t kill us!

If you really want to hear back on the pre-requisites, then you could try emailing or calling the admissions office. With the April 30th deadline fast approaching, I’m not too sure how helpful that would be.

I’ve heard UCSD is a bit lax on pre-reqs and puts more emphasis on GPA, but I’m no admissions counselor and I would definitely recommend trying to contact someone from the college rather than taking my word on it.

@vvMark
Yeah I’m not planning to contact anyone over it and I wouldn’t expect to hear anything new anyway. I called them way back when about the statics/physics issue and as soon as I mentioned “out of state,” they said they couldn’t advise me or tell me how anything would transfer until I got accepted. Maybe I caught someone on a bad day. The only bit of advice I received was to try finishing all my humanities. But you’re right, we’ll know in less than two weeks. Best of luck to you!

I know UC is a good system, pickup all smart students. SDSU is less reputation, but if you study hard same as UC student then you better than one regular student at UC. I knew SDSU student worked at great CO with top level while UC is work for him. SDSU has a lot of bad students but not means don’t have very good students.

So no one with U-link got notified yet right?

Biology and related majors: Last year, people with 3.4 and below got waitlisted. Literally all of them were later accepted. I think it was a similar case the year before that. Not sure about this year. Unfortunately, UCSD doesn’t give a rats a$$ about major prereqs and gpa matters most.

@AponteV Hey there. Just in case no one’s answered your question yet, it depends on which schools you applied to. If they include UCI, UCLA, UCSD, UCB, and UCD (give or take a few others) then I wouldn’t worry. None of them have released regular transfer admissions just yet. Looking at UCSD and UCLA’s profile of admitted transfers for the major, I’d say you have a pretty good chance. You’re well above the 75% mark of admitted transfers so just relax till I’d say… this Friday?

Ahhh… I would figure that major prereqs would be quite important. Applying with a 4.0 and none to a few of the major prereqs wouldn’t logically make you more competetive than someone with a lower gpa and all prereqs imo.

@Brian1990 I fail to see a meaningful point being made here. A university provides the tools for individuals to develop themselves into individuals who can do amazing, great things. However, it only provides the tools–going to an amazing school such as a UC does not automatically bring success. That can only be done by properly utilizing the tools provided by the university you are at to their fullest extent.

Your example of a UC student working for an SDSU just proves that one individual worked harder, was luckier, established a greater network–whatever. Nobody is trying to refute the merits of SDSU as a school, because it is a great school. There are “bad” and “good” students at every school, your university experience and subsequent success is a result of how you utilized the tools given to you.

Anyone else getting tired of scrolling through life stories and soap box rants. Can we get back to just stating accepted or denied.

@jstang909

They can be a bit annoying at points but it’s really not a problem scrolling through them. Just overlook them. If it makes people feel better to type out life stories or express frustration, I say great. That’s valuable. This is a place for moral support and to gain an understanding of your chances and the application process, so whatever helps people is fair game to me.

I do agree that we all need to just chill out and wait for the applications to roll out by the 30th for all schools, it’s too much unneeded stress in I’m sure for most, an already stressful last semester.

It’s almost 4:30…

Not saying that admissions are coming out today or anything, but I’m gonna keep checking everyday!

U-link anyone?

@Simoneye I have it! You’re still waiting a decision right?

Can anyone evaluate my chances to any schools: UCSD, UCD, UCB, UCLA

I am in huge need of entering Californian schools as my dad, as an immigrant, is moving to Cali soon and I will have to reunion with my dad, as I am now studying in Vermont (East Coast). I mentioned that in my essay.

My GPA is 3.83 with all prerequisites met except Org Chem, with fabulous ECs and a few awards. I am also in Honors College of my school: Neuroscience is my major. Can anyone evaluate me??? DO YOU THINK I WILL GET INTO ANY OF THEM? ANY IS ENOUGH I AM DESPERATE OF GOING BACK TO CALI. I really have to go to cali…

@diuneilomo
Where are you from? Are you in a cc now?
Very good stats. You should get in no problem. I saw a 3.16 neuroscience major get in last year to sd off the waitlist

@frozendodo24 I am from University of Vermont, a ranked 78-88 school nationwide. I am from Hong Kong…I hope so…I already don’t mind which school I am going to, just any…i just want to reunite with my relatives already in Cali and my dad who is moving to Cali…

Has anyone been able to RSVP for transfer triton day? I still only get the page with the countdown.
