UCSD FALL 2016 TRANSFER THREAD

Got off the waitlist as well!
The application checklist lists all the things you need to do, but some of the deadlines for things have already passed and there’s no links to complete stuff?
Also the campus ID card says “The Photo Submission tool” will be ready in early May but there’s no link to that either.
Is there another portal to access these things?

Hey,
Does anyone know when the deadline for on-campus housing/apartments is for transfers?
ONe of the schedules says, “after you submit your SIR, submit your housing application by your designated deadline date,” which I have no clue about. (I haven’t sent in my SIR, yet…)

I submitted my housing at the same time I submitted my SIR. I believe the date is also June 1st.

Got in off the waitlist on Wednesday

how long do i have to stay SIR’d to more than 1 uc? I want to play it safe.

Yay, I will be attending UC San Diego starting from this fall. I am a transfer applicant with decent stats:

In-state cc student
GPA: 3.7
Units: around 80 units
Major: Communication
School: Warren
IGETC: Fulfilled
EC: None, besides working
Essay: Pretty well-written personal statement
Applied to: UC San Diego, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, Cal State Long Beach, Cal State Fullerton, UC Berkeley
Accepted: UC San Diego, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, Cal State Fullerton
Rejected: Cal State Long Beach, Berkeley
The reason why I was rejected from above schools were: didn’t fulfill their requirement but still gave a shot anyway

I am planning to live on-campus on transfer dorm
Currently living in CA

Already filed an SIR, got financial aid estimate, applied for housing.
To do: send my final transcript and vaccination records

@MarieRose8 - congrats on your acceptance. My daughter was a communication transfer last year and is also in Warren. She lives off campus, but close to the Superloop bus. The transfer dorms at the Village are a great place to live.

so is the deadline for SIR tomorrow at 11:59pm? or earlier in the day?

Just out of curiousity, will you be 24 years of age as of Fall Quarter(end of September) 2017?

Anyone know how long it takes to get the admission packet in the mail?

Does anyone know much about switching majors? I’ve been accepted as an Economics major but I’ve taken most of the math classes and I’m interested in switching to Math-CS. Anyone know much about the difficulty of switching majors?

@xxrubyxx - if the major you would like to switch into is not capped then I think it is pretty simple. If it is a capped major it is much more difficult to switch in.

For those who sent their transcripts in from your cc, have they received it yet? I sent mine 2 weeks ago and it still doesn’t show it’s been received!

@jjill2 It took about that long to received one of my cc transcripts. The other one was fairly quick like 3 or 4 days. Maybe try calling your school and make sure that they have been sent. If so, follow up with UCSD admissions.

So I got in to Revelle, and they require 3 math courses.
What’s the point of getting IGETC certified if I have to suffer through more math which has nothing to do with my major? :frowning:

@ZeroSuitSamus - did you not review the transfer requirements for Revelle prior to selecting that college? My D specifically chose Warren when she transferred because there was not a foreign language requirement. The 3 classes she had to take were a choice of two upper division classes outside her major area (Communications) and the Warren writing class. She ended up with an upper division philosophy class (not easy!) and an upper division visual arts class history of photography.

Has the room assignment opened up for anyone living on campus? Any news on that?

@showmom858 Revelle was on the bottom of my list.

I’m a student at UCSD and it’s more to break up the school into smaller communities and to make it more manageable/easier for you to feel a sense of community. No one really cares what college you are in. The biggest differences are grad reqs and welcome week activities/orientation.

All colleges do.
