I’m no web dev, but they might removing stuff from the portal to lower the load on their servers when decisions come out
Interesting point. It just disappeared from the desktop portal for my son as well.
Hang tight , you’ll get in to a great school . I’ll think positive thoughts for you .
surprisingly for my portal on my pc, the bar disappeared in the past hour
same for us. Disappeared in the past hour
I would say the banner missing means that our decision was uploaded to the server. I doubt they’d be able to upload all 150k+ decisions altogether so they’re probably uploading it slowly (which is why some people got their banner removed yday).
This also heightens the chances of the results coming tmrw
I don’t see why decisions should take that long to upload - they just need an applicant ID (which should be at most 256 bits if they’re really concerned about avoiding a collision) and the decision for the applicant (which can be packed into 2 bits, since there are 3 possibilities and 2^2=4>3, but they’ll probably round it up to 1 byte). So in total, each decision is 33 bytes, 33*150k=4.72 MB. It shouldn’t take that long to send 4.72 MB to each decision delivery server.
Of course, I don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes and probably my guess is completely wrong.
I suspect we are all a part of a scientific experiment. See how much stress and anxiety the process produces and best timing to release results to get people most excited about the schools. See, Merced and Riverside releases first. Then UCSC followed by Irvine and Davis. UCLA/SD then SB. Berkeley saves itself for last. See a trend here?
This process does mess with everyone’s heads. I think the theory about them strategically trying to create as much stress as possible is, ironically, a result of stress from this entire process. It’s only human to think this way, but I think you should take a step back and try to destress.
You mean like making jokes on CC posts?
Probably need to send an instance of UCSDConditionalDecision which derives from UCSDDecision which derives from EnterpriseNotification which derives from AbstractEnterpriseNotifiable and AbstractEnterpriseClientState which online queries FrameworkLicenseServer before each operation, which talks to EnterpriseVersionService to verify version compatibility before each operation.
Total data transfer 450k, 32 network queries per applicant.
My banner is gone too! Does that just mean the decision is uploaded?
So everyone’s banner is gone now, right?
yeah they fixed the portal astrology. if yesterday you had the banner ppl were saying you got rejected
What if you had it yesterday but not today?
people were alleging that you got rejected because some people’s banners weren’t even there yesterday. again, I think it’s just a stupid rumor.
No banner here but I dont even remember if it was every there… should it be on the top? all i see is
APPLICANT PORTAL IN caps
