The UC website says

Some majors – such as engineering or the biological, physical and natural sciences – do not recommend IGETC. They encourage applicants to complete major prerequisites before completing general education courses. Other majors may require or recommend you complete either IGETC or campus-specific general education requirements before you transfer.

I have no idea why post #4 says Cal requires IGETC. Cal has 2 versions of a CS major, one in engineering and one in L&S.

College of Engineering
IGETC offered at California community colleges is not accepted as completion of breadth.

College of Letters and Science
Either IGETC or the college’s requirements (reading and composition, quantitative reasoning and language other than English) are acceptable.
