UF decision 2012 Spring TRANSFER - accepted/denied

i got in :)

Congrats! :)

I just checked, nothing yet.
I tried calling CALS again this morning and talked to someone who said to email the person in charge, likely the same person referenced above.
Going ahead with UCF registration as soon as I’m able- classes are already filling up and are somewhat full by now…

LOL i got in surprisingly. this will be a great back up school if UCF doesnt work out

now i feel confident that i will finally be able to move out either way! yayayayayayayayayayay

@Tinuviel8

I also asked them about switching my specialization to Dietetics, and Ms. Matthews said this specialization is very hard to get into. Maybe thats why you still got nothing…

Good luck! I hope you can get in too!

Thank you and congrats to you both! I still have nothing…I will update when I do. :)

hey guys~ I have a question! How long will you get the admission email and the official admission mail from UF after your status has changed? My status changed last Wed but I haven’t received any email or mail…

Besides, does anyone know what I should do to confirm my admission?

Thanks a lot!

I just got my letter today and I was accepted on Monday. Sign up for Orientation and get immunization records over to them. We should know more at the orientation.

@ Fatz99

Thank you for the information! I guess I will sign up for Orientation now and wait until next week for the letter.

Still no updates. In looking to going to UCF, I’m realizing how much I really want/wanted to go to UF…
I’ve been on the UCF campus quite a bit and it was nothing like UF…and UF would afford so many more opportunities for my interests.

I hope I know soon :frowning:
For those of you accepted, when is orientation?? Am I going to completely miss it because I don’t know what’s going on yet? Getting pretty worried…

orientation is november 7th and december 7th. so you still have time. i would definitely call them asap!!!

I have now both called and emailed them, still waiting… Is Dec. 7th the final orientation? What are the times? I have two final exams that day that I can’t miss!

tin you should call them. they actually mentioned in the orientation email if you absolutely cant make it that day, they’ll find something…

I could call again. The first time I called I was told to email someone which I did. I didn’t want to be pushy.
I definitely would want to go to orientation, and should I get accepted I would consider asking to take my finals earlier in the week if possible- I don’t think it is though, unlike normal exams. At this rate I don’t feel like I’ll know by the 7th! I know that I will…I’ve just seen that same page on ISIS too many times…
thanks for the input!

call them. be assertive if you must. tell them the deadline is way past.

the system must have updated within the last couple hours, logged on to find:

We regret to inform you that your application for the Spring 2012 term was not among the limited number we were able to approve for admission.

Possible Reasons for Denial
YOUR APPLICATION WAS NOT COMPETITIVE WITH OTHERS APPLYING TO THIS MAJOR.

I was pretty surprised, considering that I felt pretty good about my chances with a 3.7 gpa, A.A. already awarded in a previous term/60+hrs, and the final couple transfer required courses in progress (courses which I signed up for at start of this term for the specific major @ UF that is not offered locally, to fulfill those transfer requirements- at least they are all applicable towards the other major I would now pursue at UCF). So that’s that…
I see that others in this thread and previous years have got accepted with 3.2’s and 3.4’s…CALS is very competitive, I suppose.
At least I know so I can make my plans for spring.

damn im sorry to hear that :/. i dont get why u wouldnt be admitted. i guess their admissions are a gamble sometimes.

EDIT: your major mustve been very competitive. i applied to CLAS.

Still no reply for me, Ive decided against going to UF though, just going to cost me too much to live in Gainesville. Going to live at home and go to UCF. but I would still like to know if I got in.

David12795: Yeah I’m not sure either, can only infer from the one sentence rejection that others applying had higher GPAs. While the major I applied to is not offered at UCF, it is offered at FSU, and UNF as well as one other smaller school in the state. I choose UF after visiting there/falling in love with the campus that day, and was impressed by their academic ratings. But the point is, my major is not very rare in the state (a factor that would have increased the competition); so I suppose like me many students probably choose UF for this major but were more competitive. I had no way to know this though: on the CALS FSHN website they claim that a general 3.0 or higher is deemed competitive…
Maybe it would’ve helped it I had those transfer prereqs already finished when I applied/grades to show for them. For this major I wouldn’t exactly have been/be able to wait and reapply once grades are in, since there wouldn’t really be courses I could take under the 3000 level, and the major isn’t offered at UCF.
But in the end I would have wanted to most likely switch out of that major to another within the college, the major that I have now easily changed to at UCF. So it’s probably for the best and I may have still gone to UCF anyways to avoid those additional living expenses while I can.

One thing I really did not like about UCF’s campus was that it did feel like a large commuter school (and I will be making quite a commute, 1 hr minimum one way, with my current living situation), and didn’t seem to have that university feel that UF did. My boyfriend also attends UCF as an engineering student and is not happy with the quality of education. I hope that my experience is different…I want to be more excited about this…

lconant1, what major and college did you apply to at UF and which will you be pursuing at UCF?

i still applied to uf anyways and had one pre req in progress. but thats strange, i always thought it was less competitive if there were less majors. maybe im just thinking of supply of demand. haha. although, ucf is where is at ;), why not look at fsu since you were planning on moving (im assuming you are?) out anyways? go for whatever school offers best on your major. in this case, fsu or unf. dont just settle. but thats just my opinion.

im definitely keep uf as a second school just because living expenses there are so cheap compared to orlando. maybe i should’ve applied to fsu too. haha

I was actually going to attempt the commute…I’m probably going to hate it though, but I may be able to find a place with someone after being at UCF for awhile.
And since I was most likely going to change my major anyways, I’m not too bothered by not being able to pursue that one that UCF lacks. I would have rather been able to make that decision myself, which I felt like I had already made for weeks until just a couple days ago when I started to reconsider the UF major. If I change my mind and want to pursue the major then I will apply at other schools, but it’s unlikely.
So in the end it’s not that big of a deal, just a surprise.

Good luck at UF! :)
