<p>Unfortunately, the best public university is not as good as the best private university. </p>
<p>UF is in Gainesville which does not have as much city nightlife as University of Miami. If all you want is frat/house parties then UF would be for you. If you want nightclubs, restaurants, athletic events, lounges and bars, University of Miami would win.</p>
<p>University of Florida is subject to budget cuts which can drastically effect its academics and tuition</p>
<p>Gainesville is not as nice as Coral Gables and the cost of living in Gainesville is MUCH cheaper than the cost of living in Coral Gables.</p>
<p>So basically it comes down to which environment you prefer. If it’s the typical college campus atmosphere with mostly frat/house parties and little in terms of nightclubs, restaurants and lounges or athletic events off campus, go to University of Florida.</p>
<p>If you are even the least bit city oriented go to University of Miami.</p>
