<p>One plus for ATT is that I live in a fringe roaming area and they have historically taken good care of me by making the adjustments when the phone thinks I am not in the USA and I really am 
Though the merge made things ugly for about a year and a half when I had to argue every month. Now I have a rep who calls me every month!</p>
<p>Don’t know if anyone is interested, but we ended up with Nexus, college son is getting one too. Now the long process of figuring out how the thing works! So far it’s been pretty cool. We were able to find a specialty store in the neighboring town, tried out the GPS function around town, gotten the calendar going, browsed the web to find the phone number of a takeout restaurant. There are quite a few apps that I’m interested in getting (both free and not), but right now I’m just trying to get used to how it works.</p>
<p>Does Nexus have push email that’s as good as the Blackberry? How is the Blackberry 9700 browser?</p>
<p>I just switched to HTC Touch Pro 2, and while I love the browser (I can even watch videos with the Skyfire browser) the push email solutions for it are nowhere near as good as the Blackberry.</p>
<p>Ahh, push email is my issue, too. If any are as good or close to Blackberry I would like to know. So far I have not seen any.</p>
<p>Since I didn’t even know what push email was I had to look it up. But from what I can tell it does, but possibly not for multiple accounts? I sent an email from an aol account to my gmail account and my phone dinged a notification within seconds.</p>
<p>Btw, you can get an unlimited data plan for a smart phone that is not a Blackberry or iPhone for something like $10 or 15 at ATT. This works with those Samsung phones that look like iPhones. My H has one and he likes it. He uses it for checking his email. So, if email is all you want, you don’t need an iPhone.</p>
<p>I’ve heard people complain about the voice quality on smartphones. I really need a crystal clear connection or it drives me nuts.</p>

<p>just got a BB for my college freshman son…the phone he took to school in Sept was just unreliable…we sent down older phones from our basement for him to try… and he went thru a few of those also… I strongly urged him to get a new phone (he was in the 18 mos to 24 mos window when you can get a new phone at the new, lower prices, vs the first 18 mos of any plan) …</p>
<p>we have AT&T for service as I receive discounted rates from corporate program…
the deciding factors for me were that you cannot get the monthly insurance on an iPhone… and I was told that iPhones are easier to break/crack than a BB… iPhones have much more “glass” vs BB which has no glass… you can get BB full replacement for $5 a month…which sealed the deal for me…</p>
<p>my own BB was acquired when you had to get the data plan, BUT you could cancel it at any time, which I did…I like the BB contacts interface for calling… and I like the full keyboard for texting… new BB’s MUST have the data plan and you cannot cancel it these days… </p>
<p>for me, the ideal solution to my iPhone envy is going to include acquiring an iTouch… it works off of any WiFi… and you can do GMAIL and Facebook etc off an iTouch without a $30 month data plan… I am interested in some of the Apple Apps… so my hope is that my Valentine’s gift will be an iTouch… just have to decide if I will go for 32G or 64G model… I am okay with the idea of 2 devices as I have an iPod today… </p>
<p>we did look at all the other phones at the store… our experience with Samsung phones was not good… my son resisted the BB initially as he likes a “flip phone” but once the very helpful salesgal showed him how easily he can lock and unlock the BB he was sold too. Overall, I think he is happy he went along with the new phone… but one can’t help but feel “what is wrong with this picture?” when one’s kid is resisting getting a new phone!!</p>
