Got accepted to DGS.
Does anyone has the idea about how hard to get into CS or stat+CS?
@Kaiping It is near impossible…Do not come to UIUC if you want CS or Stats + CS and didn’t get in. People with 4.0s routinely get declined even after meeting all of the other prerequisites.

My Son was accepted OOS to Electrical Engineering. How easy/difficult is it to transfer to Computer Engineering (same department) ? What is the process to apply for a major change before accepting the offer ? He has a few more admissions where he has Computer Engineering major.
@CBS1999, if accepted EE, attempting to change major before accepting admission can be done only by submitting a Change Major Form and doing so is akin to committing admissions suicide. Basically, what you would be doing is agreeing to give up the major you have and asking for a new one, and then, if not accepted to the new one, you are likely done, meaning you are not admitted to UIUC at all.
A major change can instead be attempted by making a request for a change after starting college, at the earliest during the second semester to start the change in second year, and that possibility, and what is needed to attempt to do it, can be discussed with assigned advisors after you accept admission. It is possible to change within the department from EE to CE but it is not something that will definitely be allowed, i.e., it will depend on grades, seats available in the other major, how many others want in and how you compare to them. Being in the same department helps, but one should not accept admission on the assumption that one will definitely be able to change later to CE.
Thank you - very helpful
Accepted to UIUC - DGS and James Scholar Program. Any idea about scholarships offered by UIUC ?
