UIUC peeps, LET'S ALL MEET UP!

no im sure youll go back to LAS…BUT, in my case, i want to switch from chemistry in LAS to Chemical engineering bc i think i want to make a profession out of it and apply it like an engineer rather than learn the general curriculum…its basically the same courses im sure w/ some general engineering stuff thrown in…so im wondering if theyd let me switch into the engineering program…im pretty sure my stats are good for LAS bc i was already accepted but i would say borderline for engineering.

Isn’t it too late to switch your majors now, probably have to wait until at least after the first semeseter, right? because I’ve changed my mind of what I’d like to major in, also.

-Jerod

well, i assume the first semester for all freshman is very similar (all freshman have to take the core courses)…so i would take the same math, science, other freshman courses that all the engineers probably take also during 1st semester…then id switch majors…so its basically not a big deal, i hope? cause if i cant switch my major i might as well go to umich bc freshman only choose areas of interests on the app, not majors…

If you’re already in LAS at UIUC and want to switch to Business you just go to the admissions, if they say no, you can still continue in LAS. Why would you be not able to go back to LAS?

Sounds good, I’ll be hitting it up in spring break as well.

ChemE and Chemistry are both under LAS… you shouldn’t have problem in switching majors…

Yeah Lock12 if you have any questions about Chem E I am in the program right now and would be happy to volunteer info. And one girl I know is switching to ChemE. (Most switch out haha) from Chem and it is not a problem at all.

Anyone going to the Engineering Open House? I may just check it out. Is it worth going?

I’m working on a project for EOH right now. It is for credit in my Chem E class. I haven’t really been to any meetings yet b/c our first one the guy didn’t show up. Anyways it’s about thermocoustics and the rest of the projects seem pretty interesting. It seems like a more interesting science fair to me. Boards and stuff and research. I’ll be there so just go to uiuc.edu and type in EOH in the search and you can just read and see for yourself if it sounds intersting. I’ve never gone before so I wouldn’t know. That’d be cool if I saw you there.

Will there be an expectancy of just admitted undergrads to go and check out what the engineering department does? I’m hoping to find out about the ECE programs and maybe chat with students.

Should I go? Please tell me other people are considering going too…
