UIUC Transfers for Fall 2015

Ah, that changes things. If your school doesn’t offer a given course, UIUC isn’t going to hold it against you. A lot of CC transfer students encounter this with language courses and various prerequisite courses. A lot of CCs don’t offer a third or fourth level of foreign languages because they don’t have enough people taking the courses. There are a lot of various prerequisite courses that CCs don’t offer as well.

I’m technically missing one of my prerequisites for my junior level courses. Physics majors at UIUC take PHYS 225 - Relativity and Math Methods during their sophomore year, and it’s a prerequisite for junior level mechanics. However, very few CCs offer a comparable course, so they don’t really consider this as a missing prerequisite in the sense that they would consider certain other classes. Instead, they’ll most likely allow me to take 225 concurrently with PHYS 325, which is junior level mechanics.

In the case of data structures, I don’t think it’s necessarily the norm for a CC to offer such a course. I just checked my academic catalog, and my CC doesn’t have one.
