Yes, this is very true. Putting yourself out there as soon as possible is only going to be beneficial.
I discovered that persistence pays off. I emailed Math Advising because I was trying to get into an honors section of MATH 347 - Fundamental Mathematics, which is basically an intro to upper level math and formal proofs. At first they turned me down because they said they don’t like to accept first semester transfer students into honors math. But I tried again and asked the to reconsider, and I ended up getting approved. This is the prerequisite to the full honors math sequence, which I intend to complete. I’m very excited about this
