Hello guys I’m a RD applicant to School of Arch. On Common App, UM has 4 slots for teacher recs and 2 slots for letters from other recommenders; however, here https://umich.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/505/~/recommendation-letters-for-freshman-applicants, UM says that they only want 1 teacher rec and none from other recommenders…
What’s their altitude on letters from other recommenders (ex. internship, job…)? Did anyone submit other letters other from teachers?
@RUHTRA999 hey! So from what I got from talking to Admissions officers is this… One teacher rec, no more than that. If you opt to include an additional letter, make sure that they are covering something other than what your teacher would say. They only want it if it provides a different perspective.
@RUHTRA999 I applied EA with two teacher recommendations, and I still got in. I think it’s better to stay away from more than one recommendation, unless you think they will cover different sides of you as a student/your academics.
yeah definitely try to stick to 1 rec unless you feel like a second rec will really help get a different side of you. i heard ross starts coming out in feb/march
Does anyone know when I should expect my final decision if I was deferred? I’ve heard from a lot of people decisions come out on a rolling basis? Or will most of those decisions come out in March?
@HRSMom According to the UofM Campus Visit website (link posted on pg. 170):
This session is for students admitted to the Ross Preferred Admission program. Students will first register for a Campus Day date with the school or college they were admitted to. Once admitted to the Ross Preferred Admission program, they will then receive a confirmation email within a week from Ross Undergraduate Admissions with a link to register for a Ross Preferred Admit BBA Campus Day session.
I was admitted Early Action to U of M LSA Residential College. Anyone know much about this unique program aside from what can be found online? I am interested in doing choir or some kind of singing group to fulfill my fine arts requirement, but I don’t know much about the fine arts programs included in the program.
