UNC Transfer fall 2019

We might know our decisions in an hour! I’m so incredibly nervous, but simultaneously beyond excited. I wanted to thank everyone in this thread for being so supportive! You guys all seem like great people and I hope we’ll all be classmates soon

I meant EDT not EST, I get confused lol

How exciting!

I hope its today!! I just want all this anxiety to be over. I literally skipped one of my classes today because I was just too nervous to focus or do anything

breathes into paper bag for 20 hours straight

I can’t even nap to pass the time, I really hope it’s today everybody ?

A FB group is a great idea! Is anyone looking to live off campus? I’m living in Warehouse over summer and would love to live there for the school year

I’m a real estate agent in Chapel Hill, so I can give you advice on where to look if you’re moving to the area.

I can help with transfers who are considering on campus housing this year as I lived there this past school year. Though this next year I will be off campus.

Do we get an email right before decision comes out?

@HSstudentNC how is dorm life at UNC? Are transfers designated to a certain dorm?

No email before decisions come out @wantstogotoharvd

@HSstudentNC then do we get one after the decision?

I remember from applying last year (as a senior from high school) we all thought the time would be at 3:00 but we ended up getting tortured until about 4:00. Hopefully we get them in 10 minutes.

Dorm life is pretty chill. Depends a lot on your living preferences. If you don’t mind living with someone, it’s not so bad. Personally, I’d recommend the suites on south/mid campus as the north campus dorms are a little older, smaller and are not suite style. The suites are jack and Jill style on south campus with 4 total people sharing a conjoined restroom. Mid campus suites contain 4 rooms with a shared bathroom (8 people). It’s really close to everything such as classes, dining halls, student union and rec center. Plus there isn’t much of a need to take a bus (unless it’s raining/really cold or warm). The drawback is that you do have roommates, and RA’s (could be good or bad depending on your take of the issue). There is usually one main kitchen per dorm so if someone is cooking when you want to, you’ll have to wait. If you choose to, you can do a roommate search to be matched with other transfers or people with common interests. Housing does their best to make suites/rooms that are with other transfers. You can choose to be a roommate of a returning student if you wish to do so. The overall cost is not too bad but there is definitely some lost flexibility, space and privacy that comes with living on campus. @MaplePecanFrap

Have a feeling it will be friday instead. Hope not though

And if anyone has ever visited UNC, they know parking is quite the annoyance. The option for transfers to park on campus before 5 PM is limited. You will either enter a lottery to get an on campus spot or you will be able to purchase a spot about 2.5 miles from campus at RR lot. There is a bus that takes you there but it’s annoying to take a 20 minute bus ride just to get your car. Most parking on campus is free on weekends 24/7. Parking is also free for most spots after 5 pm until 7:30 the following morning.

Havent posted before. Freshman at pitt. GPA this year will likely be in the 3.7-3.85 range. Born and raised in chapel hill but didnt apply last year. HS gpa was 3.8 UW and 5.1 W. ACT:33 and SAT:1500. Played tennis and football in high school.
Didnt post this to brag but to tell you guys that even with those stats in HS, i was waitlisted at W and M, Lehigh, Emory. And Tulane. I didnt take it personally. I truly think you can be successful anywhere.
That may seem contradictory to the fact that i applied to transfer, but i have exposed myself to somewhere away from home and am ready to be back closer to home. Also, even with a good scholarship at pitt, unc tuition is still half

no decision yet
