Is there an admitted transfer group on facebook or anything like that??
@daniiellesara were you accepted off the waitlist?
@penntousc noo I was accepted in early April
There is a group called “UNC Transfer Students-2019” on Facebook. @daniiellesara
@HSstudentNC thanks!!
I just wanted to add this for next year’s applicants. Especially those unsure about chances as it’s obviously a stressful process.
Accepted out-of-state from liberal arts university in NY, 3.6 gpa, received leadership awards and had awesome extracurriculars. (I think my extracurriculars were my biggest strength, objectively) I had good reason for transfer and was super active on campus! Lower gpa also due to serious illness which became part of my journey. Overall the transfer process seems holistic and things work out as they’re supposed to! Ending up at Vanderbilt but UNC is an great school
Posting for posterity:
Sophomore transfer
Waitlisted at first with the following stats:
4.0 GPA with 7 college classes taken (three dual credit classes in HS and four classes first semester)
1400 SAT
Weak as hell ECs, economics club and HS ones
Accepted off the waitlist after the second semester when I took 16 hours and maintained my 4.0
Do transfer students have to take the 3 supplemental gen ed classes if they earn a reverse Assoicates in Arts?
I’m not sure how it works for a reverse transfer, but I do know that as a transfer who earned an Associate degree in NC I have to complete that supplemental gen ed requirement of 3 courses above 199 outside my major department. However, there is another way to meet the requirement. You can complete a second major or you can complete a minor and you will not have to take the 3 courses. @hbh2017
for everyone that was accepted in mid April, did you all get your housing assignment yet??? and if not, when do you think we’ll know??
@“lee.sophia32@gmail.com” I got accepted in April and I’m still waiting for my housing assignment ![]()
I guess to anyone reading this later on like I am, I’ll post my results
Decision: Rejected as an econ in-state sophomore transfer (as expected)
HS GPA: 3.2 or 3.1 UW, 3.4 or 3.5 W I cant remember, it was trash either way
ACT: 24 (not sending in this or my HS gpa next year)
College GPA: 3.5
Family income: 150k-200k
Hooks: Not a lot tbh, your average straight white guy. I’m technically a first generation immigrant though and I was born outside the US.
ECs: Honors college at my college (in-state CC), Part-time job, 100 hours community service, life-long involvement in martial arts since I was like 6 or 7. I’m doing MMA now and I have my first fight set in December currently so we will see how this plays out for my application next year. There’s probably other stuff too that I’m forgetting but it is what it is.
Oh yeah also quick edit:
Essays: When I wrote them i thought they were incredible, stellar 9/10s and everyone else who read them thought so too. My immigrant mother who has NEVER complimented me said I should write a book. Maybe now that I’ve read them each dozens of times I think they’re just average, maybe below average. Don’t know what that says about em but yeah. They were probably at least halfway decent.
If there’s anyone still reading this – did you or anyone you know go into the Transfer United RLP? What did they think?
