UNC vs. Wake Forest vs. Duke vs. Vanderbilt

Davidson is much, much smaller than UNC (about 1500 undergraduates, compared to ~17,000 undergraduates at Chapel Hill), and located in a charming small town. Most who would be happy at UNC, I doubt would be equally content at Davidson (and vice versa), though there are always exceptions. The schools are just so different, especially in terms of size. It is much less diverse than is UNC and more conservative, relative to UNC. It has an excellent academic reputation, and students seem to really love it. I think you really need to visit. Of all these schools, it’s probably closest to WF in size, though Davidson has no graduate programs or professional schools (to my knowledge), unlike WF. Warblersrule might be able to tell you more. They just instituted a “no loan” policy with their financial aid, which is a big boon. They do have some merit scholarships, the most well known is the Belk, but – as with all big merit scholarships-- are hard to get.

Does that help?
