Maybe we should change the name of this thread to “more celebrities harmed”
….but now RIP.
When I was living in Idaho several years ago a teenaged boy died from a combination of RMF and West Nile virus. What are the odds of that?!

A guy I know died of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever in 2012, after volunteering with a church group to help with disaster cleanup. He was only 62.
Bats can carry rabies, so rabies vaccination is recommended after contact with wild bats.
Bats can also carry other viruses, including coronaviruses closely related to those that cause SARS, MERS, and COVID-19 in humans.
I think the bat was swooping around my head because I had an alarm clock that had an illuminated display by my bed. Maybe mosquitoes or other insects were attracted to the light and the bat to the insects? Who knows. I’ve heard of people getting rabies from bats because they didn’t even know they were bitten.
We were dumb college students. I don’t know if we even notified our camp director or anyone. About the bats or the mice. I think At the time, I thought that the baby mice were put on my bed as a prank by some of the other students. I had been the victim of a prank when I and a few others went out to the nearby small town one weekend. When we got back, late at night, we found that some knuckleheads had disassembled my bed and reassembled it on the roof of my cabin. . So I thought the mice were another prank. When now, I’m sure mommy mouse just found a nice cozy spot for them.
A food allergy that has been dramatically increasing in frequency is acquired meat allergy due to similarities in protein in saliva of the lone star tick and those in red meat (and for some dairy). Alpha gal syndrome. So now more ticks are being associated with illness
Alpha-gal syndrome also results in allergic reactions to some medications that contain the sugar that one is allergic to. That sugar is found in meat derived from most mammals (including all that are commonly eaten), but meat derived from birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, or invertebrates is not an issue in this context.
This is why I wear permethrin treated clothes every day when I work on my farm – there are a LOT of bad diseases ticks carry! (Powassan Fever is another scary one)
Hantavirus kills 3 in Mammoth Lakes, CA.
This is scary! We have not gone to Mammoth this ski season since we have a different ski pass than Ikon which is accepted there. Normally we got there 3-4 times a season to ski.
