My DH and I got married in a gazebo. Aparently it was the first wedding in teh gazebo after they built it on the property, so our wedding photo was used for eons in their advertising. I love gazebos! Go for it!

Ooooh, Novelisto, I love the bentwood arbor & gazebo! They do a lot of this kind of twigwork in the Adirondacks. I’ve also seen similar rustic structures in Colonial Williamsburg.

Our pergola (16’ x 20’) is made with pressure-treated lumber & a natural stain, so it is semi-rustic. Our self-imposed challenge is to furnish it only with recycled/refinished items from Craigslist, yard sales, or thrift shops. I found a weathered wooden table & chairs on Craigslist which turned out to be teak. DH was in his glory, sanding & refinishing it with 7-8 coats of polyurethane. Also found a wrought iron bakers rack & hanging pot rack (for lights), which we sanded & repainted with black rustoleum. So far, I’ve spent less than $500 to furnish, including refinishing materials. Our patio now has a southern European feel, and we eat breakfast & most meals outside when the weather is warmer (mid Spring- late Fall).

Go for the gazebo, sewhappy! Just do it!

Is there desire to “build” a gazebo, or to possess a gazebo?

Ahhh- a pergola-- THATS what those arbor things are called!! I never knew!! Thanks!

I bought this for our prunings
( we also have a huge willow- or should I say the neighbors do, which if we didnt prune we would have little sun.

Go for it! A gazebo sounds lovely! I can picture it in my mind; the vines, flowers, music, people chatting…maybe you can invite all of us over when it’s finished. I’ll bring the wine.
