<p>If you have something in mind as intended major, you should choose that. If you are a qualified candidate but not accepted by that program, they may put you on the second choice. Some students would prefer applying directly to a major. Imagine if a student apply to certain school specifically for an intended program but ended up not accepted a year later. Would it be better for him/her without the uncertainty in the freshmen year? Anyway, you may change major after freshmen if you did find out you have interest in something else.</p>
