Under what circumstances should I skip Math 1A and/or 1B?

<p>Short summary of the above:</p>

<p>5 on AP Calculus AB: skip Math 1A, go to Math 1B
5 on AP Calculus BC: skip Math 1A and 1B, go to Math 53 and/or 54 (but self-study some introductory differential equations before Math 54)
3 or 4 on AP Calculus (either): you can skip Math 1A and go to Math 1B, but the Math department says that some students may want to start over in Math 1A</p>
