One doesn’t need to gussy about the career resume before college starts.
What is her goal - teaching, industry, medicine, etc. if she has one.
A parent is lucky if a kid had a job before college - like a grocery store or Dairy Queen - and it’s hard to get an internship even after first year.
All said, when she gets to school, let her get comfortable and established - and then from there, she can look into available research opportunities either through postings (they send out emails) or simply asking a professor.
No need to rush the student - let them be a kid for now.
