Romanigypsyeyes,
Students getting jail for assault, harassment, drugs, etc. is not that uncommon. No. They are affecting me. It’s hard doing a group project as the only responsible person, to give one example.

I would love to know the name of the college where students are doing all these illegal things and being put in jail. You could have looked up all the stats before you enrolled at your college. We did that before my kid enrolled. I think maybe there were a couple of thefts or something.
You need to relax. I simply dont believe that students are doing all this illegal stuff and going to prison. Sounds like you are at the wrong school. Just for giggles I looked up colleges with the highest crime rates and was quite surprised to see UVA and Cal on the top ten list. But there were some less surprising ones too. You need to find friends who don’t engage in that kind of activity and not concern yourself with the ones who do. And I am happy to see you using emojis. Maybe you are a little more chill than I thought. :)>-
OP, you’re experience sounds highly unusual. I’m sure there are lots of serious students. You’re spending time around the wrong ones. I do believe students are generally much more focused, however. We had a good time in grad school, partied some, but everyone was very ambitious and hard-working (without exception). But by then, most had work and/or life experience. Very few went to grad school right after undergrad. The other thing is, I don’t see why what others are doing should affect you. Pick the right students for group projects and problem solved. Finally, 40-60 hours of school work is too much. Not healthy at all.
itsgettingreal17,
40-60 hours is totally healthy. Also, when someone makes bad or illegal choices it affects all of society, so I have every right to be concerned about the behavior.
You started out talking about drinking, drugs and neglecting coursework, then bumped the thread to add lying, cheating and stealing, and now it’s not uncommon for students at your college to do jail time for assault, harassment, drugs, etc. I suspect you just started adding things for dramatic effect when you didn’t get the response you wanted. Next, you’ll be finding syringes in your violin and dodging bullets while you’re playing chess.
You seem like a very pleasant person, OP. Best wishes in your future endeavors. O:-)
1Dreamer,
Drugs are illegal just like the other things I mentioned.
