Unemployed architects in Seattle

I read it–and sent it to my DS who is applying to architecture school. Bottom line, though, is that you can do other things with an architecture degree just as you can do other things besides be a reporter for a newspaper (dead career path) with a journalism degree. You have to have great thinking, analytical, math, and process skills, not to mention creative problem solving, to be an architect. Oh, and client/people skills-- not like those things are useless in other jobs! I think pick a school that is forward-thinking and not just all about learning to do computer drafting. Everyone we talk to says how hard and low-paying the field is. If a kid isn’t dissuaded by that then obviously there is a passion that makes it worthwhile. All of this is IMHO only, of course!!
