Unfair URM acceptance

This is an old thread.

Nevertheless, I’d disagree with Romulus. It’s not fair for race to play any role in admissions. Diversity is great, but it doesn’t come from the color of someone’s skin. Diversity comes from the individual, the culture they’re a part of, and who they are. If you want a truly diverse community then you need to evaluate on a case by case basis based on the individual. Race doesn’t have any relation to character, personality, etc.

I’m fine with colleges wanting diversity, but racial diversity isn’t the only type of diversity. AA breeds resentment, hatred, and lowers the achievements of URM in the eyes of many. Socioeconomic status would make more sense than race to play a role in admissions.
