We flew from Hawaii to Oklahoma City to audition, then to Chicago Unifieds (8 schools) then to LA Unifieds (5 schools) and 1 DVD audition. We started the process very early in order to schedule all the Unified auditions. The earlier you schedule the more control you have over the times. I only had to make 1 change because of a conflict. Keep a close eye on the vocal/monologue vs dance audition times - I had forgotten to put the Boco dance audition on the master schedule but fortunately we were able to fit it in. My daughter was healthy throughout this 1 week time frame - it would have been a disaster if she was ill - but it was the only way we could manage the auditions with the distance we were traveling. Interestingly - she was accepted at the onsite school, 1 Chicago Unified school, 1 LA Unified school and 1 DVD audition school - so the Chicago Unifieds held the lowest yield for us (I know that this is not scientific - just an observation). In the end I think I would have preferred a pre-screening process to lower all those audition fees and maybe reduce the number of overall auditions. Despite all the stress we had a heck of a good time!! We stayed in Chicago for an extra 2 days and went to the Art Institute of Chicago and saw the 25th anniversary production of Les Miserables. BTW we found the Chicago auditions to be much busier than the LA auditions (more schools and more students).
