<p>You CAN tell if you’re in a ratesaver; However, a UCSD Ratesaver and what UCSD is calling a “Plus 1” are not the same.</p>

<p>Here are the descriptions:

@Plus 1 Space (Plus 1)

Because of high demand for campus housing, we have created Plus 1 spaces by converting doubles to triples or at Muir, by adding additional rooms. All Plus 1 rooms are appropriately furnished with a bed and desk for each student in the room; however, configurations vary by college and facility. All students in a Plus 1 room in the residence halls, will receive a pro-rated daily credit while still in a Plus 1 situation. All students in an apartment with a Plus 1 space will receive a pro-rated daily credit while still in a Plus 1 situation. The daily credit is $2.12 and will be assessed to the student’s record at the end of each quarter. We are committed to moving students assigned to a Plus 1 space to a permanent standard space as soon as possible.

@Rate Saver Room (RS)

We offer a limited number of permanent Rate Saver spaces, available on a first-come, first-served basis (when applicable). Rate Saver spaces reconfigure some double-sized rooms to triple rooms or a few special double rooms for the entire academic year. These rooms are appropriately furnished with a bed and desk for each student; however, configuration varies by college and facility. Rate Saver spaces are available at Revelle, Muir, Roosevelt and Sixth in the residence halls as well as Warren College Apartments. The housing rate for a rate saver is $7,200.

<p>One thing to note, though - While Plus 1 states it has all the needed furnishings, it is believed the rooms only have 2 desks, while a Ratesaver has 3. Also note that those in a Ratesaver get the Ratesaver fee, while those in a Plus 1 get the Double Fee. Those in a Plus 1 receive $2.12 a day back from the school, though, until they have been housed in a new, permanent room.</p>

<p>It is also interesting to note that even a Triple room is now classified on UCSDs webpage, made specifically for Muir’s students.</p>

@Triple Room (TR)

Muir College has a few rooms spatially designed to house 3 students in a room. Room credits are not given for these rooms. All students in the room will receive the double room rate as noted above.

<p>I’m not sure what to make of these. I’m not sure if these were even around before this summer.</p>

<p>Basically, to end a long, useless rant, you can tell if you have a Ratesaver by checking your bill; you can’t, however, tell if you have a Single, Double, Plus 1, or Triple, as all of them will be charged the same rate for the first bill.</p>
