University of Alabama or Liberty University?

barrk, remember the OP’s original question. He/she wants to weigh the relative merits of a degree from U of Alabama versus Liberty. A lot of people haven’t heard of Liberty (it’s not the kind of school that gets discussed very widely on this site, due to its largely regional standing and overall lack of prestige). Among those who have heard of it, there is no question that Liberty is a polarizing university and its teachings are polarizing too. So it would be a good idea for anyone considering it to know going in that having that name on their resume is likely to elicit very strong reactions. So in this case I would say the digression was warranted, and relevant.

and it’s a school that has an ideological position stating that his religion is a cult.

Ha! All religions are cults. Then Obama shouldn’t have spoken at Notre Dame because the Catholic Church’s position is that the Mormon faith is not the same cult as the Christian faith because it doesn’t accept the Trinity and other key basics of Christianity.

This has degenerated into nothing more than a flame thread, there is no real discussion going on.

barrk, do you have any personal knowledge of either of these two schools? Or any advice for the OP that you’d like to share? You have made three comments criticizing the direction of the conversation that all say pretty much the same thing. This is an open forum and you are welcome to contribute to it. It would be nice to help move the discussion forward and assist the OP in getting some more perspectives on the choice he/she has to make.

The OP has already made his decision to go to Alabama.
