University of Arizona Class of 2030 Rolling Admissions?

Did anyone hear that U of A is eliminating rolling admissions?

Class of 2010??? Guessing that’s a typo

Someone mentioned on another thread. Their page doesn’t seem to be updated to fall 2026 admissions cycle yet though.

Yes, rolling admissions is gone, and U of A will have EA and RD rounds:

And this…

We are AZ residents. I think that for, let’s say, students in more rural locations, this can be a really positive thing. There are some AZ high school students who live in very rural locations…like no electricity, have to have water hauled in, that sort of thing (some households in the Navajo nation, for example). The high schools those students attend might not have every type of AP class under the sun available. Or maybe you’re attending a high school in a lower income area, and your parent(s)/guardian(s) have to work 2 jobs to make ends meet, and you yourself are working a part time job in order to help pay the family’s bills to keep the lights on and pay the rent…totally different experience than another type of student might have. The words “context of where a student lived and learned” is a big deal. Very positive move, in my opinion.

But if you wanted a guaranteed admit by 9/1, then that’s not going to happen here. Apply somewhere else for that. UNM & NMSU next door in New Mexico offer that and have really excellent auto merit scholarships and some great programs!

I get what you’re saying, but for most admissions APs etc weren’t an issue anyway- it was just meeting the minimum GPA in core subjects. If people from disadvantaged areas had trouble meeting the 3.0 requirement due to circumstances rather than ability, on the other hand, this would make more sense to me.

I’m in favor of holistic admissions. It helped my older kid get admitted to the school she’s currently attending.

A student who’s been eye’ing U of A and is looking for a guaranteed admit based on their GPA and/or test score combo would want to add a different college to their list when applying for fall 2026 or later.

Oh, I’m totally in favor. (My older kid was admitted to a reach with a test score below the 25th percentile, below average GPA and no hooks… ) it will be interesting to see how they adjust admissions, with Fall 26 being a test case all round no doubt.
