University of Chicago establishes new binding early decision program

Agreed. I will also note, a lot of the summer programs at Chicago are free. If you go to the website, you will see there are about 4-5 of them that are totally free and a couple that are $1,000, not 7, 8, 10, 12k like some other summer programs ahem Penn.

These are the various pre-college summer session costs (the ones that count for this new early ED plan), they do get quite costly although financial aid is available for some.

The summer sessions that cost $ may count for this early ED. I can’t say one way or the other.
However, my son participated in one of the free summer sessions and his friend participated in another kind of free summer session. They both received the invitation to apply through this new program.

Students seem to be getting acceptances from this new program that rolled out in July - SSEN. It says 3 weeks for a decision to be made, like a super early decision which is binding.

Our high school already has a student being admitted. How about others in different parts of the US? Will this become a new trend for the coming years? Let’s discuss.
