Any chance for an OOS applicant to get into UF? Anyone know the stats for OOS admitted students?

You have the same chance as an in state student. If you have stats inside the number ranges on the website, and good essays and ec’s, you have a pretty good shot.

According to this article," In Florida, for example, out-of-state students cannot exceed 10% of enrollment at state institutions. " If this is correct, then OOS applicants (from technically 49 other states) are all competing for approx 10% of the eligible spots (compared to FL students competing for 90% of eligible spots). This “may” suggest that given the potential level of competition, an OOS student will need high stats to secure a spot.

The 10% rule is a combined amount shared between 12 public universities in Florida. Since some of the 12 have less than 10%, schools like UF and FSU can have more than that since it will still average out to 10% amongst the 12 schools.

My son really wants to go here. I was hoping U Florida had more students from around the country but mostly Floridians makes sense. It still seems like a top choice for him.

There is no increased competitvness at UF if you are OOS. I have spoken with 2 admissions people and they said the same thing. The 10% is for the enitre State University System and many of the small universitys in the system have nearly 100% in state students. The only 4 that don’t are UF, FSU, UCF, and USF. So the other schools “pick up the slack” to keep the system under 10% while allowing the bigger schools to admit as many OOS students who are qualified in the pool.

Anyone know why UF doesn’t do instate EA like FSU does? UF is the last decision I have left and honestly, it’s kind of a pain that we have to wait till the end of February.

They are starting that next year.

Yes, that has been announced on their website since August.

So I just noticed an error on my SSAR. I reported that I got an A in a class instead of A-. I already submitted an updated SSAR. Am I good, or do I need to contact them?

I would contact them. It probably won’t make a difference (as they have your transcript anyway), but you want to start your relationship w them above-board. They could technically rescind an acceptance once you’re attending or committed, and you don’t want that hanging over your head. Plus, it’s the right thing to do. You noticed the error, and in life you have nothing but your word

If that is your only error then you are good.

Hey do you guys have an active housing tab in your UF portal?

Yes, it has always been there. Don’t expect any portal astrology till a lot later. They probably are not even close to done yet and have not uploaded anything into the system yet. There was a tell last year a few hours early because they sent email set up stuff, but that was really it.

Does anyone know where I can find my regional admissions counselor information? There isn’t anything on the website. We are in the northeast thanks

We couldn’t find it either and just had to reach out to general admissions.
