University of Florida Class of 2028 Official Thread

So is there anything we need to do now for housing? We paid the $25 back in October, and for some reason my daughter couldn’t get logged into the housing portal, it keeps saying invalid

I wonder if they just got rid of the cancellation fee now when Melissa reached out to housing. The emailed response that I received regarding the $225.00 cancellation fee was from earlier this morning.

That possible. I’m just not sure how they are going to charge you the $225 in the event you cancel. They used to collect that money upfront and not return it if you cancel, but now they don’t have that money in the first place. But hopefully we get more clarity on this later today.

We signed our housing contract yesterday and it said next step will occur on March 13th. What happens that day? Is there where we would request our roommate AND select a building/room? First time through this process and we appreciate the guidance.

That’s how I read it as well however I don’t know for certain.

Does anyone know if you have to find a roomate match ahead of time or if you will just be put with someone automatically on that day if you don’t. I don’t really care who i’m with.

If we paid the $25 deposit back in November is there anything housing related we need to do before committing by May 1 as we still await other decisions in late March?

No I think this is where they will collect the $225 fee . Dorm selection isn’t until after the May 1 deadline to accept your offer of attendance and usually is the middle of May

Does anyone know if UF gives any swag for admitted student tours? Also, will they send out acceptance packages by mail? We haven’t received anything by snail mail from UF (or FSU and Clemson)

We received FSU, its stickers and a banner with the hard copy acceptance letter.

Do you know long it took to get after acceptance?

I was getting the same until I switched to logging in as “Currently Enrolled Student Login” instead of “Prospective & Newly Admitted Student Login.” I know it doesn’t make any sense, but it worked for me.

Our son got his FSU admitted package about 10 days after his early admissions in Dec

Does anyone know if honor students are required to live in honors village? My son has hated the vibe of every honors dorm/village he ever visited, and even though he hasn’t visited the UF honors dorms, I doubt he will feel any different. I’m almost 100% sure he can live anywhere but just checking.

Yes, the student can live anywhere but Honors Village is really cool and some non-honors people will live there as well since more beds are coming on-line.

Oh wow- I didn’t know that non-honors could live in Honors Village! That’s great.

Melissa96 - please find the identity of Ae1231 and communicate to the rest of the admissions team that this kid needs a good scholarship from the University of Florida. This kid is so on top of their game and I am certain will make the university proud. I have an academically high performing kid, but I wish they took the initiative to figure everything out like Ae1231 does and would be so willing to share with the community at large. I want to hire Ae1231 when they graduate!

I know this may be an unrealistic ask, but seriously.

Here is a response that my daughter just got back from housing regarding her follow-up questions: “The housing contract is a binding agreement; therefore, I would recommend waiting to sign this contract until you are certain about attending UF. The date that you submitted the $25 deposit date determines your priority date, therefore waiting to sign your contract will not affect your room selection priority date if this contract is signed by May 1st.
Regarding the cancellation policy, if the contract is signed and then the student decides not to attend UF, the student must submit a written appeal, and this will then be reviewed and approved by the Housing Team. The student will then be charged with a $225 cancellation fee (The fee will raise after May 1st). With that being said, I highly recommend waiting to sign this agreement until you are committed to UF.”

I applied in November! I think those who applied in December will get their results in March!

Amen!
