Hi! Wondering if you found out what happened with your application? My D26 had the same exact thing happen. She did not receive an email to check her portal (not sure if people who received a decision got one) and when she goes into the portal it won’t let her view her application. It says that she is EA but she can’t find any updates anywhere. She applied before Nov. 1st and uploaded stars beforehand as well but it wouldn’t show that it had received her stars. I called Admissions on Nov. 8th and they said they were having technical problems with stars but that they had her info. Now I’m wondering if they really didn’t have it.

two years ago, my child updated STARs for 1 school that had a later EA deadline than all the others and therefore was able to include semester 1 grades. STARs ended up sending updates to all the schools applied to. At one school, it did reset the application to RD since it looked like it came in after EA deadline. This was not recognized until EA decision release date. The school handled it and all those left in limbo from a STARs update were notified of a decision 2 days later. I quickly called all the other schools applied to be sure the others were not impacted. UF was not, but maybe this time there was a glitch for them?
I do see this on their website… “Admission to the combination option is more selective and is considered an “honors” path for high-performing University of Florida students. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission”… congrats on being selected!

Yes, it is a seperate application in about your somphmore or junior year. It’s not terribly selective for most programs. The program I am in is new for this year, so they accepted everyone. However, the traditional finance combined degree has an acceptance rate of around 15%. That is the path those who want to pursue investment banking usually go down.

If you have new and compelling information that was not included in your original application, contact the Office of Admissions by calling 352-392-1365 to discuss the appeals process. If you are eligible to appeal, an appeal form will be placed on your Gator Portal.
The committee’s decision is final.
Reasons for appeal - grade change. Medical. Life circumstance. Documented disability. Omitted info.
Not a reason to appeal - senior grades. Test score after deadline. Activities after app. You just wanna come.
DD26, Admitted, OOS, 3.99uw/4.5+w (1 A- sophomore year), 34 ACT (submitted), IB Diploma Program, Student Council President, good/great other ECs, good honors recognitions (but nothing national), captain of 2 sports, 1000+ volunteer hours (but in a niche/fun way), and just kind of a wholesome kid! Mid-Atlantic, upper middle class, not first-gen. Not accepted to Honors Program, no merit money offered. Happy to be admitted!

So my son’s rejection letter said to apply as a transfer !!! I called admissions and they said oh yeah, he will have well over 60 credits so should apply as a transfer if he wants to come here!! But like all excited for him and enthusiastic.
I’m so confused but do get that he would be entering as a junior either way. Were his scores not good enough so transfer is another option?
Did that happen to anyone or everyone else ?? If he applies for summer B, deadline is Feb 15 and he submitted today. He was one with 1450 sat, 4.0W 12 AP’s /20 UConn dual credits -Ap with distinction, national merit tons of work, volunteer, clubs, V athletics and premier club athletics so all around kid !

I’m sorry your son was not admitted as a freshman, he sounds outstanding. Students graduating from high school with an AA degree/60 credits is a big thing in Florida. So, to give students as many chances of being a Gator as possible, we do allow them to be considered for transfer admission. It is very different than Freshman. What is most important is that the prerequisite classes have been completed with a competitive GPA.

This is simply categorization by number of credit hours - Typically Sophomore standing is 30, Junior is 60 etc etc. So upon entry he would potentially be classified as a “junior” if he applied for (and UF accepted) the equivalent of 60 credit hours and…
That classification also signifies that he -may- be able to finish a college major (degree) in 2 years -and/or- may be able to double major or add minor etc with much less of an excess load than a student entering for a 4 year degree with zero hours. My D22 graduated early from Texas due to her AP credit hours and courses accepted (and saved us OOS tuition as well).
Since this is the path admissions is telling your son to to take, after already applying thru ‘traditional’ admission pathway, I would suggest you not worry about -why- he wasn’t in thru the traditional path and just make sure to get the transfer application in ahead of deadlines (often transfer periods are spelled out - I believe UF is Feb 15th for Summer start and May 1st for Fall start ) if you can affirm he meets the prerequisites.
If he is accepted in as a ‘transfer’, his degree will say “University of Florida” not “University of Florida *accepted as a transfer student” - but given how many credit hours he already has (and as @Melissa96 notes - prerequisites are completed) he’s in a great position to either double major, add minor, and/or graduate early saving money for life or grad schools.
