University of Georgia Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

Is today the date for OOS EA ?? Oddly, there is not much chatter on this!

It is today at 4PM EST for OOS and internationals. Good luck to all applicants

It is a little weird as usually the UGA admissions guy is so go updating his blog with current info. Good luck to everyone!

Usually the uga admissions guy is so good updating his blog… good luck to everyone!

It’s mostly because of the volume of apps. They work through the in state ones, release in state decisions, and then move on to the out of state apps.

That’s 5% higher than I was guessing. I figure my kid is in the top 30% so it’s going to make that deferral sting a little more than I was expecting :sunglasses:

Super nervous Mom here!! I didn’t get any sleep last night ….this is the big one my DD has been working so hard for! We are OOS so just praying for an acceptance or deferral!! Good luck to everyone today! GO DAWGS!!!

Kudos to Mr. Graves blog and the whole UGA process… OOS here as well and honestly , a deferral is going to be a win today.
I lived in Athens for about a year a long time ago… before the school learned how to win FB games…and I’ll tell you , it is a great small town… one of the few that actually preserved the shops and cafes right outside of the the campus…a bit like Pearl Street at CU Boulder if you’ve been there… I’ve toured / walked / visited about a dozen over the years and really like Athens… close enough to Atlanta, yet you feel far far away after about an hour drive east. good luck and Go DAWGS…

fully expecting deferral. My kid’s GPA is lower than their mid 50 because they don’t give a bump for either honors or DE classes and he only had 3 APs prior to this year (this year he has 5). His SAT is in the range, but I still feel a deferral is likely.

If deferred can you submit your fall grades?

There are very detailed FAQs for applicants who received a deferral.
Yes, a deferred applicant can send in current fall semester grades.

yes, your fall semester grades can def help you if you are deferred.
and you can apply to Honors later when you have those 1st semester AP grades. that’s how how it was with my kid- she only had 3 AP grades from Junior year and got in EA but not into Honors. Later she applied to Honors with her fall grades (including more 3 AP classes( and got into Honors.

Our high school automatically sends first quarter fall grades to all schools that the student applied to. After reading these FAQs it is unclear if those are added to the applicants application. If they are not added automatically where did they go? May seem silly but I just want to make sure we do not need to send them again if a deferral happens today.

UGA is very clear on what and when they will even look at extra things that are sent over.
They have so many applicants and are very set in what they use and when to use it.
I would never assume anything landed in a student’s file and have guidance call your school’s assigned AO and have them confirm they have updated items to use for a decision. Until I get confirmation that the updated things have ā€œlandedā€ where they need to be for consideration, there is no sleep allowed. :o)

Not feeling great with 5 AP’s and a just slightly below mid range SAT score.

The UGA admissions blog said this about APs and rigor:

Mid 50% Admitted AP/IB/DE courses over 4 years of HS: 9-13 courses
-We determine academic rigor based on all core classes a student has taken (CP, Honors, Advanced, AP, IB, DE, etc.) over the four years of HS as compared to what is offered in the school/community, but this information is the most specific data we can give on it. This does not mean a student needed X number of AP/IB/DE courses to be admitted, as we do not base rigor on the number of these courses taken.

what state are you in?
is UGA a popular school kids from your hs apply?
looking at scattergrams should help quell any anxiety. and I use the word quell lightly because overthinking is my super power.

yes, unfortunately though our school does offer a lot of APs but they are mostly STEM classes and my son is an English/Language/Humanities guy
