Instate/OOS? Major? Has there been any movement on computer engineering?
DD accepted for CS as well, any opinions how much of a bump this is from UCSD CS? Money is not a concern here, but it is further away from CA. Seems like solid #5 in most rankings but rankings are not always everything.
Exactly! If your student likes UCSD and wants to attend there, don’t jump ship for UIUC just because it’s higher ranked. Make a list of pros and cons of each school.

Closing the loop on this. She decided to commit to UIUC. Got feedback from many people including students from both places and those in the tech industry. UIUC CS is at an elite tier shared with very few other schools in terms of research and recruiter interest.
