@ridingthewave congrats on your son’s acceptance! My daughter is a BioE in the Honors College. Housing is assigned based on your LLC. My daughter class of 2023 committed on 4/30 but because she was in Honors and in University honors that meant she could only be in one dorm. She was accepted EA to honors and accepted to her LLC (University honors) well before 5/1. However, she was in a triple. Perhaps she might have been in a double had she committed earlier? Her room is huge though and is not in a forced triple. I think your son will be just fine!

Son Accepted.

For those of you wondering about the FIRE program. Here is an article I found. It is a way of getting kids who have not had as much hands on experience a way to get that experience. Fits our profile. I like the idea behind it.

Daughter got in yesterday. I am more excited than she is, but she has always been my middle of the road kid.

@terpieMOM Thanks for your concern. I was in my car driving home from work when the decisions started coming out. I carpool with my wife and was waiting for her to leave her office and I was reading everything on my phone. It was hard to try and see if my S20 was in the directory prior to finding out. I thought I was able to see it but wasn’t 100% sure.

I called my D16 who is a Senior at the University of South Florida to let her know about her brother but shortly thereafter we all received a text from my S20 with a copy of the letter.

My wife and I were so elated.

Looking forward to heading to College Park as a TerpParent very soon!!!

You are motivate, you have tried hard. Your family should not be angry at you. A different college may work out better for you. You can always try to transfer a year later.

Hello! I got into UMD EA and got offered admittance to the Honors College.

My stats are (when I applied):
SAT: 1500
APs: AP Gov - 5, AP US Hist - 5. Have taken 13 college courses(11 As, 2Bs).
GPA: 3.69/4.00 UW
In-State
Major: Computer Science (LEP), now planning to double major with math.

For context, I was accepted at UMBC and Purdue. Wait-listed at UMichigan and Georgia Tech.

Does anyone know when merit scholarship decisions come out and how? Thanks!

So does my daughter’s and another friend’s. Hoping it’s just a typo but following up Monday. It’s pretty obvious we’re in-state.

@Kelliapow - Here is a link for residency reclassification, with a phone number to call

DS was accepted directly into Mechanical Engineering Fall 2020 with no Honors College or other offers. That is okay, we are happy he got accepted!

Lots of leadership and ec’s especially tech/drone. Also music and theatre, so he has two distinct areas of involvement
Rank: 13/324

He was also accepted at Penn State UP Engineering, Delaware Engineering (safety), University of Colorado Boulder (Exploratory Studies). Waiting on Virginia Tech. It will be a tough decision, but with Penn State being our in-state school, it will be really hard to pass it up due to tuition differences. Have to say though, the engineering tour at Maryland blew him away and he walked away loving it! Plus my husband and I are Maryland alumni. But is it worth the extra out of state tuition? Something we will need to look at very hard. He did love Penn State as well, but their engineering tour really doesn’t put you in touch with the program like Maryland’s tour does.

Daughter OOS- NJ Accepted FY Engineering wGPA 3.95, uwGPA 3.75 4 APs, ACT 32 Superscored.
D is happy with the acceptance to such a good engineering course but is facing some tough choices as also has acceptances from WPI, Purdue, Rutgers and U of Delaware but still waiting on U Mass at Amherst, Virginia T, RIT and Vanderbilt (reach) - deferred at Case Western Reserve, rejected by Georgia T.
This is a long journey and its going to go to the wire I feel at the end of April! with merit $$ playing a role in her final decision.

Anyone else having trouble signing up for admitted student open house? I walked thru the steps and created my ID and MFA, but when I click on register for the open house it brings up a HTTP Status 500 exception screen.

My son was admitted to Business School last night with an invitation to Carillon Communities
