I think you are right! I have to say, out of all the schools my child applied to, I think UMiami seems to be the slickest. So many deferrals, pressuring people to convert their early action to early decision 2, without any guaranteed merit….. It all just feels kind of icky to me. It’s clear that they are trying to maximize what people are paying into UMiami and even though it’s a private institution, they are not a for-profit entity so the whole thing just feels wrong.

did your child apply to Northeastern cuz they seem to be benchmark for manipulating admissions stats and getting kids to commit for profit.

not sure if your response refuting or supporting what I said in an earlier post?
My only point to @lollylolly is that a lot of colleges (not just Miami) are pressuring students commit early either through ED or other mechanisms in order drive down acceptance rates and increase yield.

Agree. There is another thread on CC devoted to schools that offer ED2 for those who are deferred EA. This is not at all unique to U Miami.

UMaimi RD Results Survey 2025:

This form is for tracking decision results, so it’s all centralized for future students. If you could fill this out once you get your decision, that would be very appreciated!

You can see all other people’s individual responses in the links above, along with overall form statistics (such as what percent got accepted).

Hi, D was accepted last Friday but since the acceptance email, we have received no other welcome or news of any kind. This is in sharp contrast to other schools. Have we missed anything?

They sent my daughter a package in the mail with a lot of information, but I think it took a week or two to arrive. There was also an online way to sign up for admitted student events.
