Guys I’m so nervous! I can’t stop checking canelink.
I’m especially anxious considering my application was first deemed complete on January 31st and then a fiasco occurred on March 9th with a missing college report that turned out to be a mistake (as you all know).
I’m nervous and I hope that they consider me a priority candidate because I applied my common app in OCTOBER. And completed everything in January. The whole March 9th situation was THEIR fault. They repeated my application completion as of March 9th after I resolved everything.
This has been one of my main headaches this semester. I need to know soon so I know whether or not to sign up for next year’s classes at my current university. The clock is ticking for me to formally withdraw from my current university. This has been a hectic procedure and I hope I find out by this week or next week the latest.
@yankeebanger they’ll send out an email which will say your decision is ready to be viewed, and then you log onto your cane link (with the link they send you)
Hypothetically, if we all get accepted, are all of you bringing cars? I’m having a difficult time deciding whether bringing it to a city with multiple options of transportation is worth while? Also, I would have to continue making payments while in school which if anyone has ever had a major car payment and a full course load, it sucks… BUT on other threads when discussed, people said if you even bother going off campus to have a car given how slow the traffic is and how expensive it can add up to. Just wondering your thoughts!
Well not having a car for me is not an option because I’m a commuter and a Miami native! Traffic is really slow but there’s more to UM than just the campus. I think you will be just fine without a car but you’ll feel that you’re lacking. Transportation in Miami (beyond the UM trolley) is really tricky if you don’t have a car. You can make it without a car indeed but you’re going to feel like something is lacking. Atleast we always have the option of Uber!
@Syrgrlmayb12 having a car could be useful if you plan to go out of campus a lot if you don’t then having a car isn’t necessary. There’s the train station right across the campus which can take you pretty much anywhere in the Tri-County area. There’s the city buses and also the school provides shuttles to students to get around campus or to go out of campus like for example some shuttles will take you to Miami Beach, Brickell, Downtown Miami, and other popular areas in Miami. Plus there’s Uber!
Someone on this thread mentioned that they spoke to the admissions office and they were told decisions didn’t go out because they lost all of our applications. I called the admissions office and that information is FALSE!
I believe that person was banned from this thread as their comment was deleted. I do believe they were just trying to get everyone worked up for no reason.
@wheeley18 I was told the same also. The admissions office seems to be very contradicting on the information they give out. I have been given so many different answers and dates in regards to decisions that I don’t know what to believe. I am sure for most of us this hasn’t been a pleasant experience.
So I just called and the admissions officer told me again early to mid April. What I don’t understand is why would they update the canelink so close to the decision dates if they weren’t immediately going to send them ? -_-
I ended up submitting my mid-term report to Miami figuring it may help me and show my consistency to get good grades. The admissions counselor said it wasn’t required but it can’t hurt you to send it. My application may already be under review but I figured I may go ahead and send it.
